The ES/2 contains a block of memory dedicated as a description of the attached machine.
Information is loaded into this working memory from machine files stored in the Machine Eprom on
the program module.
The Machine Menu is used to select the appropriate machine file. This process is partly automatic
as the ES/2 detects the type of machine cable attached. For each cable however, there will be a
family of machines from which you can choose. The name of the currently selected machine file is
displayed and the keys are:
NEXT
Displays the next available machine file.
PREV
Displays the previous machine file in the list. ‘Auto’ indicates that the displayed machine is the one
selected after a hard reset if the EEprom selection is bypassed.
LOAD
LOAD is displayed whenever the displayed data is changed. Pressing it loads the new file, and
returns you to the Menu Select Menu.
PROG
PROG selects the Machine Parameter Menu.
TYPE
This key option only appears if Parameter protection has been switched OFF. See Local
Options Menu.
TYPE selects the Machine Type Menu which allows you to select between a serially controlled
VIDEO, DAT or OTHER machine or the machine associated with the parallel cable, if fitted.
CABLE
Selects the Cable Select Menu which allows you to select any of the machine types in the machine
rom, without changing the cable.
This key option only appears if Parameter protection has been switched OFF. See Local
Options Menu.
