The Gen Setup Menu is accessed from the Gen Menu. Four softkeys are used to select the
generator frame rate and phase reference. The timecode output source and the timecode bus
output mastership can also be set.
It is important when using this menu to distinguish between the generator RATE and generator
STANDARD. The rate is the frequency of the output signal in real time. The standard indicates the
way that the frame numbers progress.

Selects the timecode standard of the generator output. Operating this key cycles the display
between:
24fps film
25fps for EBU
DrpFr for drop frame SMPTE
NnDrp SMPTE 30 frames per second
When the standard is set to be the same as that used by the system, an asterisk (*) is displayed next
to the code standard. This is a useful way of checking that the system frame rate has been set
correctly. The code standard cannot be changed in fcjam, fsjam or sys modes.
When a crystal reference is selected (XTAL) there are more selections available. This key also
selects the output rate. In this case the options are:

24 24fps 24Hz
25 25fps 25Hz
29df Drop Frame 29.97Hz
29ndf 30fps 29.97Hz
30df DropFrame 30Hz
30ndf 30fps 30Hz
In all other cases the rate is determined by the reference selected with the REF key.
