3.5.3 Super I/O Chip<br />
The SMsC* SCH5027 SIO devices contain all of the necessary circuitry to control serial/parallel<br />
ports, floppy disk, PS/2-compatible keyboard, mouse and hardware monitor controller. The<br />
server board implements the following features:<br />
• GPIOs<br />
• One serial port<br />
• Floppy controller<br />
• Keyboard and mouse<br />
• Local hardware monitoring<br />
• Wake up control<br />
• System health support<br />
3.5.3.1 Serial Ports<br />
The server board provides a single serial port implemented as a stand-alone external 9-pin<br />
serial port. The following sections provide details on the use of the serial port.<br />
3.5.3.1.1 Serial Port A<br />
Serial Port A is a standard DB9 interface located at the rear I/O panel of the server board, below<br />
the video connector. Serial A is designated by as “Serial A” on the silkscreen. The reference<br />
designator is J8A1.<br />
