New Hampshire College operates its<br />
own scholarship and work program and acts<br />
as administrator tor the National Direct<br />
Student Loan Program (NDSL),<br />
Supplemental Educational Opportunity<br />
Grant Program (SEOG), and the federal<br />
College Work-Study Program (CWS). You will<br />
be given consideration for all these<br />
programs when you submit your<br />
SCHOLARSHIP AND ASSISTANCE<br />
application form, and financial statement<br />
(FAF) as described in the section entitled<br />
The Application Process.<br />
H.A.B. SHAPIRO MEMORIAL<br />
SCHOLARSHIPS<br />
A limited number of partial tuition scholarships<br />
are awarded each year, for a single<br />
year, in honor of the late founder of New<br />
Hampshire College. All high school seniors<br />
entering the College from secondary schools<br />
in the State of New Hampshire are eligible<br />
for consideration. Awards are made on the<br />
basis of demonstrated need and academic<br />
excellence or promise. Applicants may<br />
request consideration for a H.A.B. Shapiro<br />
Scholarship by attaching a note to their<br />
Scholarship and Assistance Application<br />
forms<br />
ROBERT E. PLOURDE SCHOLARSHIPS<br />
A limited number of partial tuition scholarships<br />
are awarded each year, for a single<br />
year, in honor of Robert E. Plourde, an<br />
alumnus of the College, in recognition of his<br />
outstanding contributions to the College.<br />
These scholarships, awarded on the bases<br />
of demonstrated need, academic excellence<br />
or promise, are available to high school<br />
graduates of the Suncook, New Hampshire<br />
area. You may request consideration for one<br />
of these scholarships by attaching a note to<br />
your Scholarship and Assistance Application<br />
form.<br />
INSTITUTIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS<br />
New Hampshire College scholarships, for<br />
the most part, are awarded on the basis of<br />
academic achievement, usually within the<br />
limits of demonstrated financial need. You<br />
will be automatically considered for scholarship<br />
assistance, including the special<br />
designated scholarships previously<br />
indicated, upon receipt of your Scholarship<br />
and Assistance Application form and your<br />
FAF.<br />
Students seeking consideration for<br />
athletic scholarships should also contact the<br />
Athletic Department in addition to the<br />
Financial Aid Office.<br />
During the 1977-78 college year, New<br />
Hampshire College awarded more than<br />
$200,000 in scholarships to over 375<br />
students. The awards ranged from $100 to<br />
several thousand dollars and averaged<br />
about $600.
