ACADEMIC ADVISING PROGRAM<br />
The <strong>Academic</strong> Advising Program establishes<br />
contact between students and faculty in<br />
order to assist the student in maximizing his<br />
use of all the programs and services<br />
available at the college. Each student is<br />
assigned a faculty advisor who assists in the<br />
development of the student's curriculum and<br />
provides counsel for those encountering<br />
academic difficulties. The Director of<br />
<strong>Academic</strong> Advising coordinates the advising<br />
program and serves as a general advisor for<br />
the freshman class. For incoming freshmen,<br />
there is a program of study skills<br />
development staffed by upperclass<br />
students. At orientation these student<br />
academic advisors conduct workshops with<br />
small group and individual study skills<br />
sessions They are trained by and work<br />
closely with the Student Affairs staff. All<br />
freshmen are encouraged to participate in<br />
this program for the fullest possible development<br />
of their academic potential<br />
ATHLETICS<br />
New Hampshire College supports an active<br />
athletic program as an integral part of the<br />
educational process. Intercollegiate<br />
competition is offered to men and women of<br />
the college community. Men's teams are<br />
fielded in baseball, basketball, golf, hockey,<br />
lacrosse, and tennis. Women's team<br />
offerings are basketball, field hockey,<br />
Softball, tennis, and volleyball. Cross-country,<br />
golf, skiing, and trap & skeet are coeducational<br />
teams. The Athletic Department also<br />
sponsors the cheerleading squad and the<br />
NHC pep band. New Hampshire College is a<br />
member of the National Association of Intercollegiate<br />
Athletics, the National Collegiate<br />
Athletic Association, and the Eastern<br />
College Athletic Conference.<br />
The College sponsors a varied<br />
intramural program aimed at active student<br />
involvement in sports. Men's intramural<br />
sports are basketball, broom hockey, and<br />
flag football. Women's intramurals are<br />
basketball, broom hockey, and indoor<br />
soccer. Team tennis and volleyball are<br />
coeducational intramural offerings.<br />
Recreational activities available at New<br />
Hampshire College include ballet, crosscountry.<br />
martial arts, modern dance, skiing,<br />
snowshoeing. tumbling, and weight-lifting<br />
ATHLETIC FACILITIES<br />
The College has a gymnasium, four lighted<br />
tennis courts, a baseball field, and several<br />
athletic fields located on the campus. The<br />
gym floor is covered with a synthetic surface<br />
which accommodates indoor tennis along<br />
with numerous other college activities.<br />
A Health Spa. a dance/weight-lifting<br />
area, is located in the lower level of one of<br />
the dormitories Cross-country ski trails are<br />
cut throughout the campus.
