HIGHLAND LIGHT INFANTRY CHRONICLE. 11
clever work, scored our third and last goal.
After relieving a severe' pressure, the Citadel
scored their second goal, and a few minutes
afterwards a scrimmage took place just in
front of the H.L.I. goal, which resulted in the
ball, by Chisholm, being netted for the third
time. No further scoring took place, but the
visitors scarcely ever left home ground from
now till the final whistle sounded, and the
Citadel have their custodian to thank for no
further scoring on the part of the H.L.I.
2ND H.L.I. V. FORRES MECHANICS.
.. The H.!,..I..started in presence of a .. larg~
number of spectators, and at once made
tracks for their opponents' goal, the whole
five forwards taking part in a beautiful run,
but Baillie shot over the bar. The H.L.I.
continued the preSSl\re, but could not score;
the shooting being very erratic and the Forres
custodian proving equal to all calls made upon
him. After about ten minutes' play the
Fones men at length broke away, and, to
everybody'S surprise, opened the scoring,
through a misunderstanding between the
H.L.I. backs. This reverse nettled the visitors,
and' they once. more put on the pressure, and
Baillie equalised by a beautiful shot from well
out in the field. On restarting, the Forres men
once more made for their opponents' goal, and
secured a corner, from which they scored,
this putting .them on the lead once more.
With redoubled energy the H.L.I. restarted,
and after bombarding the Forres goal for some
time were awarded a penalty, but Blaikie
failed to convert. This was really disappoint7
ing, as the H.L.!. men ha:d all the play, but no
luck; and, after practically bombarding their
opponents" goal, it was just on half-time when
M'Donald put'on the equalising goal.
The second half opened' sensationally.
Blaikie got the ball and, beating everybody,
carried it straight up the field and scored,
thus putting his tell
