Creature corner
By Jane Stonehill
Jones, the German shepherd-mix who recently
underwent surgery for an injured leg, is
now available for adoption. This great, friendly
dog loves everyone and would make a good
companion. He would like a dog companion to
play with, too. A large fenced yard is required. Several beautiful,
adorable kittens are available at ARF. See them weekends
at ARF adoption days on Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4
p.m. Bella, a huge, very laid-back gray cat, is available, too.
Sporting her new lion-cut hairdo, Bella loves everyone and
would like her own home soon. Bella’s friend Carmen is a big
tiger-striped cat with lots of personality. She could happily go
to a home with Bella, but can be adopted separately. Phanny
the cat, a gorgeous black and white tuxedo girl, would prefer an
appointment at her foster home to interview prospective new
owners. She’s worth the extra effort. Maggie, a darling Australian
shepherd-mix, is sweet-natured and cheerful. She would fit into
many situations. She would like a dog companion, too. Vohn is
a gorgeous, purebred white shepherd who is a companion dog
in every sense. He wants to be with someone who will take him
everywhere. Very well trained and loyal, Vohn is an unusual dog
and is looking for just the right person. Call ARF for details.
Nano is a beautiful gray and white short-haired neutered cat
who is declawed and currently living with other cats who do
not like him. He needs a quiet home where he can be a lap
cat. Zack and Purrcy are gorgeous Russian blue-mix cats.
See them and the other animals listed here at ARF’s weekend
adoption days. Two Idyllwild cats came into ARF’s care this
week after being taken from dangerous situations on the street.
Rescued separately, these two need to find their owners. One
is an orange cat and the other a tabby. Call ARF to identify
these great cats who have obviously been loved pets.
Dr. Robert Rizon and his staff will hold their monthly
vaccine clinic at ARF headquarters on Thursday, July 6. Call
ARF for an appointment, (915) 659-1122. Several ARF critters
have either been adopted or are in a trial week in a new home.
Among these are the puppies, Evie and Shy, Ramon the rat,
who went to a rat rescue in San Diego, and two kittens.
ARF dogs, both those previously adopted and those now
for adoption, will be walking in the Fourth of July parade. Call
ARF if you and your dog would like to participate.
Look for ARF events in the future, including a motorcycle
poker run on July 29, and the ARF Pet Fair to be held in
conjuction with the Pancake Breakfast on Labor Day weekend
to raise funds for the new dog park. For more information
and to volunteer, call ARF, 659-1122.
Special thanks this week to Jack, Gretchen and Celia for
donating and installing new flooring at ARF headquarters.
ARF, the Idyllwild Animal Rescue Friends, is an all-volunteer,
nonprofit organization serving the mountain communities.
ARF is located in Oakwood Village on North Circle Drive. Call
ARF volunteers at (951) 659-1122, or write to P.O. Box 1965,
