as well as a review of the Code of Ethics. Also included in the orientation will be a discussion of the issue of a
personal safety plan and universal precautions.
3) The Faculty Field Liaison will become familiar with the nature of the field experiences within the particular
agency.
4) The Faculty Field Liaison will contact all assigned students and their Field Instructors within the first two
months of the academic year.
5) The Faculty Field Liaison will have a minimum of one meeting each semester at each assigned agency. The
student(s) should be provided the opportunity to meet separately with the Liaison.
6) The Faculty Field Liaison will review the student’s work at the time of the agency meeting. This can be in the
form of process recordings, audiotapes, videotape, meeting records, projects, flow charts, etc.
7) The Faculty Field Liaison will read and comment on the student’s process recordings in his/her EFN.
8) The Faculty Field Liaison will discuss the school’s curriculum with the Field Instructor to assist with their
understanding of the connection between the student’s class work and practicum experience.
9) The Faculty Field Liaison will provide consultation on educational matters and assistance in dealing with
concerns the agency may have in relation to the student’s performance.
10) Upon review of the Field Instructor’s written evaluation and recommendation, the Faculty Field Liaison
assigns the semester grade. In the case of faculty Field Education units, it is the Faculty Field Instructor who,
with advice and consultation from the Faculty Field Liaison, assigns the grade.
11) The Faculty Field Liaison will provide prompt consultation to both the agency and the student in critical
situations (See “Procedures for Resolution of Field Problems,” page 20) and will meet with the student and the
Field Instructor prior to recommending a re-placement.
12) The Faculty Field Liaison will provide and will encourage the student to provide on-going feedback to the
Field Instructor about the student’s evaluation of the field experience.
13) The Faculty Field Liaison will advise the Field Office of any problems that the agency or Field Instructor
is experiencing which are having (or are likely to have) an impact upon the ability of either to provide Field
Education consistent with the standards and learning objectives established by the School.
D. Expectations of the Student
1) The student is expected to meet the course expectations for each level of Field Education.
2) The student will adhere to the NASW Code of Ethics. The student is expected to read the Code of Ethics
(See Appendices) during the first week of field placement and is expected to adhere to ethical behavior in all
contacts with and on behalf of clients. Any questions that he/she has about the Code should be discussed with
the Field Instructor or the Faculty Liason. Failure to adhere to the Code of Ethics may result in the dismissal
from the Field and a hearing before the School’s Student Review Committee for professional misconduct.
3) The student must observe the confidentiality of agency records.
