Wrapping a tubular manifold will keep engine bay heat to a minimum,
reducing engine bay temperatures by up to 70%. This will benefit power in
two ways; firstly it will reduce the temperature of the air going into the
engine; secondly, it improves the effectiveness of the manifold by increasing
gas speed due to lower gas density, increasing the scavenging effect.
This race proven, asbestos free, product from Thermo-Tec is manufactured
from Silica based yarns and is unaffected by oil or water, whilst withstand
temperatures of up to 1000°C. As a guide to coverage a 2” x 50’ roll will
cover approximately 13ft of 2” pipe. Manifold wrap is supplied in a variety
of sizes, see below for details. Use Snap Straps to hold the wrap in position.

Manifold blanket
Using a manifold blanket provides excellent heat retention for exhaust manifolds
and can be easily installed to both cast iron and tubular manifold. Manifold
blanket should be retained with Snap Straps.

Mini range uses the later type of hook brackets and rubber hangers. These
fitting kits contain all components, including the hanger conversion
brackets, to allow easy installation. Simply use hanging rubbers for late cars.

Radiant heat coming through the floors and bulkhead can make the cockpit
of your Mini a hot place to be. Insulating the floors and bulkhead not only
keeps the heat out but it can also prevent damage to carpets, paintwork and
interior fittings where exhaust pipes, silencers and catalytic convertors are in
close proximity to the panelwork.
Exhaust heat shield can be used on the underside of the floors where the
exhaust runs close to the floor particularly above silencers and catalytic
convertors. It effectively reflects 90% of the radiant heat from exhausts and
can withstand temperatures up to 1000°C. The general purpose material can
be used to cover bulkheads and floors to keep general heat transfer to the
cockpit to a minimum. It can also be used to wrap and cover components in
the engine bay to prevent heat damage.
