Oil cooler kits
These days we expect our cars to cope with high speeds for long periods of
time, on motorways etc... These conditions stress the standard oil system of
the Mini, as high engine speeds cause the oil to heat up and thin, reducing
its viscosity and leading to a subsequent drop in oil pressure and possible
premature engine wear. Oil cooler installation kits are available with either
rubber or braided stainless steel hoses, the oil radiators themselves are sold
separately. These are for non front mounted radiator models.

Oil cooler thermostats

Use these thermostats to limit the flow of oil through the oil cooler until it
has reached a temperature of 74 degrees Celsius.
The standard oil thermostat has push on connectors for use with 1/2”
rubber hoses and comes with hose clips. It seals off the radiator completely
until the oil is up to temperature. The full flow oil thermostat restricts flow
to the radiator by allowing it to bypass through the thermostat until the oil
is up to operating temperature. Use screw unions TT29602 to connect hoses
to the full flow thermostat.

Oil pumps and valves

Good oil supply is a must, with the Mini’s cornering capabilities oil
starvation is a possibility all precautions should be taken. The oil pressure
regulator allows you to adjust the preload on the oil pressure relief valve so
you can alter the peak oil pressure. Please remember oil pumps require
priming before fitment. Always remove spark plugs and spin engine over
until oil pressure registers. See page A21 for K&N performance oils filters.

Oil catch tanks
If you modify the breather or induction systems of your car for either road
or track use collection of oil should be considered. An oil catch tank is a
must for competition use to prevent oil spillage on the track and it is also
desirable to prevent oil vapour settling around the engine bay. These catch
tanks are designed to be connected to the crankcase ventilation system,
catching the oil vapour, allowing the air to vent through the special cap.
Manufactured from high grade aluminium and anodised for a smart, durable
finish they feature 2 x 1/2” OD connectors for the breather hoses, level
indicator, breather cap and drain plug. Available in 1 litre or 2 litre sizes.
Mount using the rear flange to a suitable vertical panel in the engine bay.

Cobalt silicone hose sets with clips
Our new high quality multi-ply silicone hoses are a must
to upgrade your Mini’s cooling system. Available in a choice of colours
they include stainless steel clips, ensuring a long life. These kits fit all side
mounted radiator models, except SPI and MPI. Trimming of the top hose
is required to suit your car. Instructions included.
