RELIEF AND DISASTER PREPAREDNESS<br />

<strong>FIMA</strong>-PIMA leadership-In Kashmir Earthquake ِArea-2006<br />

• Malaysia, the <strong>Islamic</strong> <strong>Medical</strong> Association <strong>of</strong><br />

Malaysia (IMAM) and sister relief<br />

organization: Mercy Malaysia.<br />

• South Africa: The <strong>Islamic</strong> <strong>Medical</strong><br />

Association <strong>of</strong> South Africa (IMASA) and<br />

Waqful Waqifin (Gift <strong>of</strong> the Givers<br />

Foundation).<br />

• Egypt: IMA-Egypt, Arab <strong>Medical</strong> Union and<br />

Egyptian <strong>Medical</strong> Association.<br />

• USA: The <strong>Islamic</strong> <strong>Medical</strong> Association <strong>of</strong><br />

North America (IMANA), the <strong>Islamic</strong> Circle<br />

<strong>of</strong> North America (ICNA) and the<br />

Association <strong>of</strong> Pakistani Physicians <strong>of</strong> North<br />

America (APPNA).<br />

From day one, with all his relief commitments,<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>. Tariq alerted <strong>FIMA</strong> president and <strong>FIMA</strong><br />

Relief Coordinator <strong>of</strong> the situation.<br />

Immediately, all <strong>FIMA</strong> network <strong>of</strong> IMAs and<br />

collaborating relief NGOs were made aware <strong>of</strong> the<br />

catastrophe and its urgent needs. All were called<br />

upon to mobilize urgent efforts to participate.<br />

Several IMAs formed joint relief activities and<br />

missions with their community-based relief<br />

organizations:<br />

• Pakistan: PIMA, Jamaat Islami and al-<br />

Khidmat Foundation.<br />

• Turkey- Hayat Foundation-Doctors World<br />

Wide (DWW-Turkey).<br />

• Sudan: The Sudan <strong>Islamic</strong> <strong>Medical</strong><br />

Association (SIMA), and Sudanese relief<br />

organizations.<br />

• Saudi Arabia: The <strong>Islamic</strong> <strong>Medical</strong><br />

Association <strong>of</strong> the Kingdom <strong>of</strong> Saudi Arabia<br />

(IMAKSA), the World Assembly <strong>of</strong> Muslim<br />

Youth (WAMY), and other relief NGOs.<br />

• Jordan: IMA-Jordan and <strong>Islamic</strong> Hospital.<br />

• <strong>FIMA</strong>, as a member <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Islamic</strong><br />

International Council for Dawa and Relief<br />

(IICDR), participated in a special relief<br />

meeting convened in Cairo-Egypt on<br />

November 17,2005 to assess each NGO<br />
