Set up <strong>of</strong> field clinics<br />
First permanent health center established in Komikot<br />

DWW provided medical aid and volunteer doctors<br />
• Gaza Attacks Since 2006<br />
In city <strong>of</strong> Khan Younis a new trauma center worth<br />
$600,000 was established in cooperation with<br />
another Turkish NGO- the Light House Association<br />
(2006)<br />
Physicians from Gaza were brought to Istanbul,<br />
Turkey for training on trauma and resuscitation<br />
(2006).<br />
<strong>Medical</strong> coordination team sent to Rafah border,<br />
DWW provided urgently needed medicines and 12<br />
ambulances, <strong>of</strong> which 2 were equipped with intensive<br />
care facilities in cooperation with other Turkish<br />
NGOs(2008) 9 .<br />
Three specialist physicians arrived from Gaza to<br />
Istanbul for advanced surgical training in general<br />
surgery, urology and plastic surgery for three months<br />
by experienced pr<strong>of</strong>essors in training hospitals who<br />
are members <strong>of</strong> DWW-Turkey.<br />
• Lebanon war – 2006<br />
In 2006 war in Lebanon, need assessment was made<br />
and DWW sent two and a half containers <strong>of</strong> medicine<br />
and medical supplies worth $750,000<br />
• Swat-Pakistan internally displaced persons<br />
(IDPs) Crisis – June <strong>2010</strong><br />
Mobile clinics and ambulances were sent to treat the<br />
victims; DWW provided basic health care in Mardan<br />
refugee camp for four months<br />
• “Violets <strong>of</strong> Hope” Project – Since 2005<br />
Treatment <strong>of</strong> genital fistulae patients in Niger. These<br />
fistulae are mostly the result <strong>of</strong> obstetric trauma<br />
resulting from poor obstetric care<br />
Eighty six women have been operated upon so far in<br />
Niger<br />
A new hospital will be built only for fistula patients<br />
in Niger in the near future<br />
• “Smiling Children” Project – Since 2007<br />
Surgical treatment <strong>of</strong> cleft lip/palate<br />
Surgical treatment <strong>of</strong> children with hypospadias.<br />
So far in Palestine (West Bank and Gaza), Yemen<br />
and Syria: More than 1500 elective patient<br />
examinations and approximately 400 operations have<br />
been performed<br />
• Africa “Eye Light” Project – Since 2005<br />
Treatment <strong>of</strong> preventable lack <strong>of</strong> sight and other<br />
visual diseases<br />
In Sudan, Niger and Kenya so far approximately<br />
1000 cataract patients were operated upon<br />
• Circumcision Campaigns for needy children<br />
– Since 2005<br />
Approximately 150,000 circumcisions were<br />
performed so far in Democratic Republic <strong>of</strong> Congo,<br />
Macedonia, Greece, Turkey and Georgia<br />
• Qurbani Campaigns – Since 2005<br />
31,491 share <strong>of</strong> Qurbani distributed in some African<br />
countries such as Democratic republic <strong>of</strong> Congo,<br />
Kenya, Ghana and Niger in the last six years.<br />
Rehabilitation, reconstruction and medical<br />
education:<br />
Doctors Worldwide is putting a lot <strong>of</strong> effort and time<br />
to establish projects in this regard. The major<br />
projects that have been undertaken so far and still<br />
going on are:<br />
• Capacity Building Projects in Democratic<br />
Republic <strong>of</strong> Congo Since 2005. 10<br />
Maternity clinics and hospitals, HIV/AIDS<br />
prevention programs, and Poverty reduction<br />
programs<br />
