10.3 EXPLANATION OF RESPONSE FIELDS<br />

QUERY VALUE - Maximum score that you receive based on <strong>the</strong> <strong>information</strong> in<br />

your inquiry.<br />

RESPONDENT’S SCORE - The score that <strong>the</strong> computer calculated when it<br />

compared your input <strong>information</strong> to <strong>the</strong> record that was returned.<br />

FPC - Codes that Canada employs are <strong>the</strong> Orion Auto-Class guidelines as<br />

published by Printrak International.<br />

FPS -A unique number assigned to an individual based on fingerprints.<br />

CAUTION - A cautionary warning will be followed by one of <strong>the</strong> four codes<br />

below. It will appear when <strong>the</strong> record subject is considered dangerous. Unlike <strong>the</strong><br />

person record, this code will not be expanded.<br />

Code Caution Explanation<br />

V Violence Automatic caution for charges involving<br />

violence, robbery or offensive weapons.<br />

E Escape Custody Generated when an attempt or actual<br />

escape is reported.<br />

M Mental Instability Generated when <strong>the</strong>re is a notation on <strong>the</strong><br />

FPS file indicating mental instability<br />

S Attempted Suicide Indicates that <strong>the</strong> subject has suicidal<br />

tendencies<br />

FILE OPEN - A criminal record is called a file. You will only receive files that<br />

have this notation. The following qualifying statements may appear after <strong>the</strong><br />

status description of FILE OPEN.<br />

TRANSFERRED FROM FPS - Indicates that more than one record existed for <strong>the</strong><br />

same person and <strong>the</strong>se have been brought toge<strong>the</strong>r under <strong>the</strong> one FPS number.<br />

HISTORY UNDER REVIEW - Indicates that an attempt by Identification Services<br />

Operators to enter data into <strong>the</strong> subject history area was rejected by <strong>the</strong> system and has<br />

not been corrected.<br />

SUBJECT REPORTED DEAD - Indicates that a notification was received that <strong>the</strong><br />

subject has died but <strong>the</strong> notification was not accompanied by <strong>the</strong> required set of<br />

confirming fingerprints identifiable to <strong>the</strong> record subject.<br />

PARDON APPLICANT - Indicates that <strong>the</strong> subject of <strong>the</strong> record has applied for a<br />

judicial pardon. Such a record must not be used for any purpose without <strong>the</strong> prior<br />

authority of <strong>the</strong> RCMP Identification Services, Pardons and Human Rights Section<br />

(ORI = ON1015400).<br />
