Sparks Campus Alumnus of the Year Award to<br />

Twanda Banks during the <strong>College</strong>’s 2012<br />

commencement ceremony May 10 at the Eufaula<br />

<strong>Community</strong> Center.<br />

<strong>Wallace</strong> Campus Alumnus of the Year Award to<br />

Lew Humphrey at the <strong>College</strong>’s 2012<br />

commencement ceremony May 9 at the Dothan<br />

Civic Center.<br />

Mr. Humphrey has led an incredible life after<br />

graduating from <strong>Wallace</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> in<br />

1967, and has chosen to give back to his alma<br />

mater with significant investment of time and<br />

energy. After graduating from LaGrange <strong>College</strong><br />

in 1968, Humphrey joined the U.S. Marine Corps<br />

and served in Vietnam as an officer and naval<br />

aviator. Humphrey is spending a busy retirement<br />

as a member of the <strong>Wallace</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong><br />

Foundation, and has served in several capacities.<br />

In addition, he and his wife have established the<br />

O. Lewis and Carol. Humphrey Nursing<br />

Scholarship at the <strong>College</strong>.<br />

Ms. Banks graduated from <strong>Wallace</strong> <strong>Community</strong><br />

<strong>College</strong> in 1994. She served eight years in the<br />

U.S. Army Reserves and twelve years in the<br />

Alabama Army National Guard. She earned her<br />

degree in Computer Information Systems,<br />

Associate in Applied Science from <strong>Wallace</strong><br />

<strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong>, and is pursuing a bachelor’s<br />

degree in business administration from Grantham<br />

University. Ms. Banks is the Quitman County<br />

Board of Education Technology Director and is<br />

responsible for district network and infrastructure,<br />

including maintaining the server and computers in<br />

the school district. She is on the Educational<br />

Trust Fund Committee, First Missionary Baptist<br />

Church, and serves as Youth Director. She<br />

volunteers as Friendship Association Assistant<br />

Youth Advisor. She has been involved in the<br />

Quitman County Civic League for twelve years, as<br />

well as the Quitman County YMCA.
