So <strong>the</strong>re it has <strong>the</strong> idea <strong>of</strong> selecting or separ<strong>at</strong>e people out from somewhere! Would it not be an o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

interesting meaning, th<strong>at</strong> we would have to give to <strong>the</strong> deeper sense <strong>of</strong> purifying <strong>the</strong> sanctuary? God wants<br />

us to go get clean from sin in separ<strong>at</strong>ing us from it. Th<strong>at</strong> was always Gods call to Israel <strong>and</strong> his NT-people<br />

<strong>and</strong> even more to <strong>the</strong> remnant church in <strong>the</strong> time <strong>of</strong> investig<strong>at</strong>ion judgment!<br />

• In Neh. 5, 15 <strong>the</strong> word is used in a context where sheeps are chosen. <strong>The</strong> same in 1.Chron. 16, 41,<br />

where people were chosen for <strong>the</strong> singing service in Salomons temple. So <strong>the</strong>re is still this meaning in<br />

<strong>the</strong> word. God wants has a chosen people <strong>and</strong> he wants us to live according to th<strong>at</strong> privilege.<br />

Now still ano<strong>the</strong>r point in <strong>the</strong> gramm<strong>at</strong>ical form <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> word as it is used in Daniel 12,10 is very thougthful.<br />

• Some transl<strong>at</strong>ors transl<strong>at</strong>e it as it is meant in <strong>the</strong> passage. “Many shall purify <strong>the</strong>mselves! (In Hebrew<br />

<strong>the</strong> word st<strong>and</strong>s in <strong>the</strong> “Hitpael” form, which rightly can be transl<strong>at</strong>ed with “purify <strong>the</strong>mselves”!)<br />

Th<strong>at</strong> gives us still ano<strong>the</strong>r view <strong>of</strong> wh<strong>at</strong> could be brought in connection with <strong>the</strong> purifying process on <strong>the</strong><br />

people <strong>of</strong> God. Too many Christians <strong>and</strong> even Adventists are living with <strong>the</strong> deceiving idea th<strong>at</strong> you just go<br />

to Jesus <strong>and</strong> confess your sin, <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>n you are free <strong>and</strong> forgiven forever. Many believe th<strong>at</strong> you don’t need<br />

more than th<strong>at</strong>. He covers you with his robe <strong>of</strong> righteousness <strong>and</strong> you are saved.<br />

To many are also thinking th<strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong> cleansing <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> sanctuary, which Dan. 8,14 talks about, is just a m<strong>at</strong>ter<br />

<strong>and</strong> process in heaven in favor <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> saints on earth. If Dan. 12,10 gives <strong>the</strong> real interpret<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> real<br />

meaning <strong>of</strong> this cleansing process, <strong>the</strong>n we have here a much deeper insight, to wh<strong>at</strong> has to be done within<br />

<strong>the</strong> “sinning saints” on earth to be finally cleansed.<br />

Jesus can not cleans a sinner, who does not in a certain sense cleanse himself <strong>and</strong> purify himself from sin. It<br />

means to separ<strong>at</strong>e himself from sin <strong>and</strong> changing his heart <strong>and</strong> spirit by <strong>the</strong> power <strong>and</strong> grace <strong>of</strong> Jesus. This<br />

is in absolute concordance with scripture!<br />

Let’s see wh<strong>at</strong> Ezekiel says about th<strong>at</strong>! “Repent <strong>and</strong> turn yourselves from all transgression; so iniquity<br />

shall not be your ruin! Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby you have transgressed; make<br />

you are new heart <strong>and</strong> a new spirit: for why will you die, O house Israel?<br />

Probably some <strong>of</strong> us would not believe th<strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong> Bible can say, th<strong>at</strong> we have to make ourselves a new heart<br />

an a new spirit. Usually we only know <strong>the</strong> verses where God says th<strong>at</strong> he will give us a new hart <strong>and</strong> a new<br />

spirit. (Ez. 36, 26) Does <strong>the</strong> Bible contradict itself or have we to underst<strong>and</strong> th<strong>at</strong> God cannot really resolve<br />

<strong>the</strong> problem <strong>of</strong> our sin without our cooper<strong>at</strong>ion with him <strong>and</strong> with th<strong>at</strong> wh<strong>at</strong> is going on right now in <strong>the</strong><br />

heavenly sanctuary. From <strong>the</strong>re our High priest wants to give us not only grace for already committed sins,<br />

but also to overcome sins <strong>and</strong> even tempt<strong>at</strong>ions to sin. He gives us <strong>the</strong> promise to do th<strong>at</strong> all over in His<br />

word!<br />

Now let’s look <strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong> second word in Daniel 12, 10<br />

b) “Many shall be made white”<br />

This is <strong>the</strong> second word, by which <strong>the</strong> interpreting angel describes to <strong>the</strong> prophet this cleansing process <strong>at</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> time. We still have to see it as a heavenly explan<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> cleansing <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> sanctuary <strong>of</strong><br />

Dan.8, 14!<br />

<strong>The</strong> Hebrew word, th<strong>at</strong> we find <strong>the</strong>re is “itlabanu”, which comes from <strong>the</strong> word “laban” th<strong>at</strong> in <strong>the</strong> original<br />

form means “to make white”.<br />
