Note: If the Wave Selection is the same in both the latitudinal and<br />

longitudinal directions, the combined wave pattern is a diagonal<br />

line where x = y. In order to create a more useful pattern<br />

when the Wave Selection and the Frequency properties are<br />

equal, the program offsets the longitudinal waveform by 90<br />

degrees.<br />

Create an Arbitrary Pattern<br />

In addition to the four Standard waveforms, the SS64 provides the<br />

capability to draw or import a random or Arbitrary wave pattern.<br />

To create an Arbitrary wave pattern:<br />

1. From the File menu, select New. The Recipe screen displays.<br />

2. Enter the SS64 Position.<br />

3. Enter a Name, if desired.<br />

4. From the Wave Selection (Latitude) list box, select Arbitrary.<br />

The Wave Selection (Longitude) list box and the Amplitude and<br />

Frequency fields become unavailable. The Draw Pattern radio<br />

button on the Wave Pattern Simulation grid is selected.<br />

5. Using the mouse, draw a pattern on the Wave Pattern Simulation<br />

grid. If you wish, you may edit the pattern.<br />

6. Select Redraw to set the (x, y) points that define the pattern.<br />

7. Adjust the following properties as desired:<br />

• amplitude<br />

• frequency<br />

• position<br />

• emission current<br />

• position limits<br />

8. Select Redraw after editing to effect the changes.<br />
