BSO – “Weekend of Magic”<br />
<strong>Bournemouth</strong> Symphony Orchestra marks <strong>Bournemouth</strong>’s Bicentenary with an amazing<br />
two concerts - Proms in the Park - A Celebration of the Sea on Friday 6 <strong>Aug</strong>ust; plus<br />
Galactic Classics on Saturday 7 <strong>Aug</strong>ust, which offers several close encounters!<br />
Celebrate <strong>Bournemouth</strong>’s 200th birthday with the<br />
<strong>Bournemouth</strong> Symphony Orchestra in a spectacular gala<br />
concert on Friday 6th <strong>Aug</strong>ust at <strong>Bournemouth</strong>’s Meyrick Park.<br />
With popular classics such as Fingals Cave, Rule Britannia,<br />
Jerusalem and an explosive 1812 Overture this is a great way<br />
to spend a summer evening with family and friends.<br />
The BSO is delighted to be joined by conductor Peter Stark for<br />
this <strong>Bournemouth</strong> Bicentenary BSO concert. Born and brought<br />
up in <strong>Bournemouth</strong>, and a past pupil of <strong>Bournemouth</strong> School,<br />
Peter featured on the BBC programme Maestro and is a<br />
conductor of national renown. He is joined by tenor Jeffrey<br />
Lloyd-Roberts, who will be singing among other things ‘Our<br />
<strong>Bournemouth</strong> – the BSO’s new anthem written especially for<br />
the Bicentenary year.<br />
The Saturday night is the turn of Galactic Classics - a concert that celebrates all things<br />
other-worldly through the full power and scale of a symphony orchestra, so let the BSO take<br />
you on a journey far, far away! Complete with classic space-themed soundtracks by John<br />
Williams and James Horner such as E.T, Apollo 13, Star Wars and Avatar this is a concert<br />
designed for all the family… and hopefully not too many little green men…….<br />
Both concerts feature jumbo LED screens, special<br />
lighting effects, a fantastic fireworks finale and,<br />
new for this year, specially choreographed fire<br />
fountains – never seen before in the UK!<br />
