Work in progress includes contracts of which the value of work done exceeds
customer progress payments. At year-end 2002, the total amounts of the value
of work done and the customer progress payments of these contracts were
€ 62.2 million and € 44.2 million respectively. The movement in Work in progress
in the consolidated profit and loss account does not equal the movement in Work
in progress in the balance sheet. This difference is caused by currency translation
differences and the accounting treatment of large long-term contracts.
