Goodwill
The difference at the time of the acquisition of participating interests between the acquisition price
paid for the shares and the net asset value.
International Dredging Academy
Collaboration with the Scheepvaart en Transportcollege in Rotterdam in which a modular curriculum
has been developed exclusively for Boskalis. It trains Dutch people and people from abroad for work
on the Boskalis fleet. The training will enable them to take up officer positions in the future.
ISM code
International Safety Management Code for the Safe Operation of Ships and for Pollution Prevention.
ISM is setting up an international standard for compliance with safety regulations and the prevention
of pollution on seagoing self-propelled vessels. The standard requires shipowners to establish and
maintain a safety management system. From 1 July 2002 onwards, seagoing self-propelled dredging
vessels will also be required to meet the requirements of this code.
ISO-9001
Standards of the International Organization for Standardization; the global federation of national
standardization organizations. ISO-9001: this standard sets out standard requirements for quality
management systems. The quality management system of Royal Boskalis Westminster has been
ISO-certified.
Joint Industry Project
Project involving several industrial parties.
Maximo
Maintenance management system for directing and optimizing maintenance, stocks and technical
information about fleet units.
Orderbook
The turnover accounted for by parts of orders as yet uncompleted.
Plant Management System
System that provides support for the clear and structured management of ships using internal
procedures.
QA/HSE specialist
Quality Assurance / Health, Safety & Environment specialist.
Trailing suction hopper dredger
Ship with its own suction and discharge unit and with a hold for the transportation of sediment.
