this evening as we would like to convey<br />
information to parents in <strong>the</strong> most effective<br />
manner possible.<br />
<strong>School</strong> photographs will be taken during<br />
<strong>the</strong> week <strong>of</strong> September 5-9. Specific<br />
dates and times for each class are listed<br />

ISS is built around volunteers. If you<br />
would like to be part <strong>of</strong> volunteering at<br />

your efforts can best be utilized. We<br />

I encourage you to attend <strong>the</strong> Parent<br />
Association Leisure Fair <strong>of</strong> activities at<br />
17:30, August 30, in <strong>the</strong> ISS cafeteria.<br />
Getting your children involved in a reas<br />
o n a ble amount <strong>of</strong> local activ i t i e s<br />
(scouting, a local sports club, music<br />
lessons, crafts, a special interest group<br />
or a school-based activity) helps your<br />
children develop habits that make <strong>the</strong>m<br />
healthy life-long learners. During <strong>the</strong><br />
next weeks, we will be canvassing your<br />
children to consider need for additional<br />
activities <strong>of</strong>fered by ISS teachers.<br />
<strong>The</strong> summer still has some long<br />
evenings and weekends. This year is<br />
friluftsåret, and Norway has a great outdoors<br />
to <strong>of</strong>fer. You might consider a<br />
family trip to a cabin in <strong>the</strong> mountains.<br />
One <strong>of</strong>fering open to everyone are <strong>the</strong><br />
cabins and events run by Stava n g e r<br />
Turistforening. <strong>The</strong>y have found ways<br />
for families to get to <strong>the</strong> mountains and<br />
not get too stressed. <strong>The</strong> Children’s<br />
Hiking Club (Barnas Turlag) has a wide<br />
variety <strong>of</strong> reasonably affordable events<br />

<strong>Stavanger</strong> on September 18, a rock trip<br />
in Tananger sponsored by <strong>the</strong><br />
Geological Association on September<br />
25 (free), a climbing course for children<br />
over 6 years <strong>of</strong> age on October 1, and a<br />
bit longer hike to Bynuten on October 2.<br />
