Junior Sister, Emergency Department
Gemma was nominated
for the ‘Unsung
Hero’ category by
a senior member of
her team for showing
courage, compassion,
commitment and being
caring while she led the
Emergency Department
through a difficult and
very busy period. Her
colleagues said she was
a fantastic role model
for how she ensured
the team was supported
throughout.

Dr Shirin Beebeejaun
Foundation Year 1 Trainee Doctor,
Respiratory Medicine
Shirin was nominated by a senior colleague
for demonstrating exemplary commitment,
compassion and respect in her first ever
paediatric posting as a doctor. When the team
was a member of staff short, she stepped up
to the challenge to ensure that all tasks were
completed successfully and that children and
young people received the same high level of
care. She was also nominated for demonstrating
great understanding of patient and family
problems, prioritising them appropriately and
acting in a very caring way.

Alison Jeremy
Head of Speech and Language Therapy
Alison received several
nominations from her
colleagues in the ‘Best Boss’
and ‘Unsung Hero’ categories
for remaining cheerful and
positive through challenging
times of change within the
department when she had only
recently taken over the role of
head of the department. She
supported staff throughout and
made sure that the team were
still able to deliver their care to
the best possible standard.

Elaine Ross, Domestic, Ward 15
Elaine was nominated by
a family on Ward 15 for
being an ‘unsung hero’.
They particularly wanted to
acknowledge how supportive
and compassionate Elaine
was during a difficult time. The
family specifically mentioned
Elaine’s positive attitude, how
polite she is and her caring and
trustworthy manner. She wholly
demonstrates our Trust values
in everything she does while still
providing a great service in her
regular duties as a domestic on
the ward.
