A career with experience in acute hospitals and the
community in a variety of nursing and management
roles. Previous clinical roles across many paediatric
specialities in district general hospitals and teaching
hospitals. Clinical experience at ward sister and
clinical nurse specialist level. Previous clinical roles
in the community caring for adults, frail elderly,
children and young people. Previous role as Deputy
Director of Nursing.

Children’s Hospital in 2004 to manage the Medical
Directorate; appointed Assistant Director for CAMHS in
2007. Appointed Interim Chief Operating Officer March
2009 and appointed to the substantive role in November
2009.

Evaluation of the Board of Directors
The Board of Directors has continuously reviewed
its compliance with the Code of Governance
and has identified one area where it has chosen
to follow a different approach to that set out by
Monitor. This relates to the recommendation
that Executive Directors should be subject to
review and reappointment at regular intervals

of no more than five years. We have chosen to
maintain our existing management and contractual
arrangements for Executive Directors.
Directors and Governors are required on an annual
basis to give a clear pledge to the code of conduct
and accountability, which encompasses the Nolan
principles and Code of Governance.
