39.7 Metric Units<br />

The Contractor shall submit to the engineer within two weeks of the Award<br />

of contract, six copies of detailed schedule showing in an approved form<br />

the estimated dates of commencement and completion of different parts of<br />

the works including the expected dates of the various sections of the work.<br />

The detailed schedule shall be such as it can be updated monthly or as<br />

directed by the Engineer. Six copies of the revised Schedule shall be<br />

supplied to the Engineer, as and when it is revised. The schedule will be in<br />

two parts. The first part will consist of schedule for detailing, preparation &<br />

submission of shop drawings and the second part shall consist of<br />

schedule for execution. The schedule will be only detailing of original<br />

schedule submitted along with tender.<br />

The Contractor shall submit to the Engineer before the second day of<br />

every week, a progress report for the preceding week showing the upto<br />

date progress and progress during the preceding week on all items of<br />

each section of the Works in relation to and in consideration of the<br />

detailed Schedule.<br />

Metric units have been used in the specifications and on all the drawings.<br />

If any materials described in the Contract or ordered by the Engineer are<br />

described by dimensions in the metric units and the Contractor can not in<br />

accordance with the Contract, procure such materials in the measure<br />

specified in sufficient time to avoid delay in the performance of his other<br />

obligations under the Contract, but can obtain such materials in other<br />

measure to dimensions approximating to those described in the Contract<br />

or ordered by the Engineer, then the Contractor shall henceforth give<br />

notice to the Engineer of these facts stating the dimensions to which such<br />

materials are procurable in the other measure. As soon as practicable<br />

after the receipts of any such notice, the Engineer shall give an order to<br />

the Contractor which shall either<br />

(a)<br />

(b)<br />

Direct the Contractor to supply such materials to the dimensions<br />

stated in his said notice to be procurable instead of the dimensions<br />

described in the Contract or originally ordered by the Engineer, or<br />

Direct the Contractor to make some other variation whereby the<br />

need to supply such materials to the dimensions described in the<br />

Contract or originally ordered by the Engineer will be avoided.<br />

39.8 Field Materials Testing Laboratory<br />

39.8.1.1 The Contractor shall provide, furnish, man and maintain a laboratory at his<br />

own cost for the Testing of bricks, concrete cubes, construction materials,<br />
