slipper to give the circulation a good kick-start in the
morning,” she chuckles. This is Katie Beck’s standard
modus operandi. Throughout the slippering she will
yak and gab and interject the proceedings with her
snide comments.
She slams the sole of the slipper down on my
right buttock, knocking the breath out of me.
It would be an understatement to say that I
hate this vile and odious specimen of humanity.
Nonetheless, I have to admit that I have a grudging
respect for her capabilities as a disciplinarian. When
Katie Beck has a slipper in her hand she knows what
she is doing.
Katie is fond of informing us of the provenance
of her chosen instruments of pain and torture. She
maintains a standing order with a vendor from the
Athens Plaka for the supply of her slippers. They are
not actually slippers; they are handcrafted Spartan
sandals with the cording removed. She has them
designed so that the heel fits neatly into the palm of
her hand and the soles are slightly over-sized.
Even without suffering from the after effects of
having my bottom beaten with Claire’s lethal cane the
slipper would certainly get my full attention. I don’t
know how Katie keeps in such good shape. She
spends most of her off-duty hours flaunting her wares
in the saloon bar of the Bunch of Grapes.
