Generally at this time of the morning I head to
the cafeteria and enjoy a leisurely breakfast but right
now tucker is the last thing on my agenda. I painfully
climb the stairs and make my way to the Phase 6
landing where I am quite sure that the emergency
repair crew will be waiting.
I am not disappointed. Debs, Nixdown and Jojo
are in the study, lounging about drinking coffee. A pot
of one of my most therapeutic balms is sitting out on
a side table.
In some walks of life I suspect the idea of lying
across your best chum’s lap with your skirt hiked up
and your bumbags around your ankles might be
considered a tad queer. Quite probably a few years
ago, when I was going about my business on Civvy
Street, I would have shared that opinion. But this is
Woodys and chums performing emergency repairs to
each other’s swollen bums is an everyday occurrence.
Debs seems to have gotten over her snit, at
least temporarily, and makes sympathetic noises as
she gently massages my poor beleaguered bum. Jojo
and Nix hover over me inspecting the damage and
idly exchanging sage observations. This is another
