knowledge-dissemination on Purulia’s cultural heritage and tourism.
This can be done through academic and cultural exchange
to strengthen research and exposure, and sharing of best practices
to stimulate innovations and specialization among the folk artists.
Conclusion
The initiative in Purulia is an example of a developmental process
that considers the local community as a key stakeholder, and that
values creativity and local culture, and thus strengthens and
rejuvenates cultural awareness. Cultural heritage tourism can
promote the continuity of traditional artistic expressions and
disseminate them within and outside the community. In the long
term, wider recognition of their heritage will uphold the rights of
indigenous communities.
