Petroleum Development Oman LLCRevision: 3.0Effective: 1 Apr 20097 <strong>Medical</strong> Examinations7.1 GeneralThe contractor shall arrange and pay for pre-employment and routine medical<strong>examinations</strong> of all contractor staff to be engaged under a contract to perform work orservices for <strong>PDO</strong> and staff seconded to <strong>PDO</strong> under a contract. No contractor staff shallbe seconded to the Company until approved by <strong>PDO</strong>'s Chief <strong>Medical</strong> Officer.All medical <strong>examinations</strong> shall be conducted either by a <strong>PDO</strong> <strong>Medical</strong> Officer or a <strong>PDO</strong>approved<strong>Medical</strong> Practitioner (refer to Appendix L).All medical <strong>examinations</strong> shall be conducted in accordance with <strong>PDO</strong> and Shell group<strong>Medical</strong> Fitness Standards and in accordance with the requirements of Omani LabourLaw.In the medical assessment, the Examining Physician is responsible for carefullyassessing the physical and mental health of the individual and the suitability of thatindividual to do that type of work, with particular regard to the unique nature of the <strong>PDO</strong>workplaces.The examining <strong>Medical</strong> Practitioner shall:complete and sign an Initial <strong>Medical</strong> Examination Report, EX1 (refer to AppendixR)communicate the results of the examination, including any medical restrictions(temporary or permanent), to Contractor management.Any person found to be medically unfit for the work shall not be employed under thecontract.Any person found to have medical restrictions shall not be employed under the contractuntil approved by <strong>PDO</strong> chief <strong>Medical</strong> Officer or <strong>PDO</strong> Occupational Health Advisor. TheContractor shall arrange for the examining <strong>Medical</strong> Practitioner to submit all medicaldetails of such personnel to the <strong>PDO</strong> <strong>Medical</strong> Officer upon request.If approval is withheld or rejected the Contractor shall communicate the out come to theperson concerned at no cost to <strong>PDO</strong>.The Contractor shall maintain, update and store medical records of all staff working for<strong>PDO</strong> under a contract.7.2 Objectives of the <strong>Medical</strong> Assessmentto ensure that designated personnel are medically fit to workto anticipate and, where possible, prevent the avoidable occurrence of ill-healthor worsening of pre-existing medical conditions at work, which could place theindividual, their colleagues and the emergency rescue services at risk to provide occupational health surveillance.Page 21 SP-1230 : Specification for <strong>Medical</strong> Examination, Treatment & Facilities Printed 25-Sep-08The controlled version of this CMF Document resides online in Livelink®.
