A history of conditionssuch as glaucoma and uveitis need specialised assessment.Visual acuity, corrected, must be at least 6/12 in the better eye, demonstrated byrecognised test type procedures.A monocular individual is acceptable provided the job functions can be performedefficiently and safely. Recent onset of monocular vision is unacceptable (i.e. within sixmonths of onset)Colour perception should be adequate for the particular type of employment to beundertaken. Colour blindness per see does not disqualify the person from beingcommercial driver as long as he/she meets the minimum requirement i.e he/she canrecognise the colours of traffic signals (red, green and amber)9.11.19 MedicinesIndividuals being treated with certain medicines require careful consideration: Individuals on anticoagulants, cytotoxic agents, insulin, anticonvulsants,immunosuppressants, and oral steroids are unacceptable for work in the field butmay do office based work.Individuals on psycho-tropic medications (e.g. tranquillisers, antidepressants,narcotics, hypnotics) are unacceptable for work in the field.
