Petroleum Development Oman LLCRevision: 3.0Effective: 1 Apr 2009Urinalysis (for glucose, protein, blood) and blood analysis (for FBC, lipids, renalfunction and liver function) is essential.Baseline audio metric testing to the standard described in this document isessential as they may be required as medico-legal evidence. Frequency ofaudiometric testing depends on exposure and level of noise at work place.A chest X-ray is not mandatory at the initial assessment, but may be required forclinical indication, or at the discretion of the Examining Physician.ECG is mandatory for staff who are above 40 years of age and when clinicallyindicated.Further investigations e.g. other blood tests, stool <strong>examinations</strong>, special eyeexamination, ECG and radiological <strong>examinations</strong> including mammogram may berequired to clarify clinical findings or because of particular job requirements.7.6 Assessment of FitnessFitness to work shall be determined by the medical findings, but the evaluation may beinfluenced by any of the following:Location of the operating site and the availability of medical services.Prognosis of any condition and the efficacy or potential side effects of treatmentRisk of relapse or acute exacerbation requiring immediate medical interventionAny adverse effects which could be precipitated by the interior environmentThe proposed frequency and duration of interior visitsThe availability of special medical supportAge should not be a bar to fitness to work in interior locations, but must be takeninto account carefully, with all the other findings in the assessment. Theminimum age acceptable is 18 years. The maximum age acceptable is 60 years.7.7 Certificate of FitnessAll employers should ensure that a current valid certificate of fitness is maintained foreach worker.
