Petroleum Development Oman LLCRevision: 3.0Effective: 1 Apr 2009The Examining Physician may recommend increasing the frequency of periodicassessments if clinically indicated, such as in those persons with chronic, but notdisqualifying conditions. In some circumstances specific vocational testing may berequired (e.g. visual acuity, auditory acuity). <strong>Medical</strong> examination should also beundertaken prior to termination of employment.Following sickness absence due to injury or illness, an individual's medical fitness mustbe assessed. This does not automatically involve further medical examination.7.9 Types of <strong>Medical</strong> <strong>examinations</strong><strong>Medical</strong> <strong>examinations</strong> to ensure the fitness of an individual for a particular job shall beclassified as one of five categories:Pre-employment examinationPre-placement examinationRoutine <strong>Medical</strong> Examinations (Health Surveillance)Pre-transfer or overseas<strong>Medical</strong> BoardFitness To Work Examinations (FTW)These are discussed in more detail in the following sections.The process for carrying out medical <strong>examinations</strong> is outlined below.The results of any medical examination shall be communicated to management as oneof four categories:A (fit without restriction)B (fit with specified restriction)C (unfit)D (awaiting specialist assessment)All medical <strong>examinations</strong> shall be conducted in accordance with <strong>PDO</strong>'s <strong>Medical</strong> FitnessStandards and in accordance with the requirements of Omani Labour Law.All medical <strong>examinations</strong> shall be conducted by a <strong>PDO</strong> approved <strong>Medical</strong> Officer.Page 24 SP-1230 : Specification for <strong>Medical</strong> Examination, Treatment & Facilities Printed 25-Sep-08The controlled version of this CMF Document resides online in Livelink®.
