Petroleum Development Oman LLCRevision: 3.0Effective: 16 Apr 2007If these produce symptoms, or are associated with haemodynamic abnormality, thenexpert cardiac opinion is mandatory.CardiomyopathyThese individuals are usually unacceptable.Cardiac EnlargementFitness will depend on the underlying cause.PacemakersThe subject of pacemakers is highly specialised and acceptability to work on <strong>PDO</strong>locations must include assessment of:The underlying condition and indication for insertionThe type of pacemakerType and nature of workThe effect of the working environment on the unitThe risk of physical damage to the unit.9.11.6 HypertensionAs a general rule, hypertension is acceptable provided it is uncomplicated and wellcontrolled by treatment. Consistent resting BP of more than 180 systolic or more than100 diastolic is unacceptable.9.11.7 Peripheral CirculationThe following conditions are unacceptable:Current or recent history of thrombophlebitis or phlebothrombosis with or withoutembolisation.Varicose veins associated with varicose eczema, ulcers or other complications.Arteriosclerotic or other vascular disease with evidence of circulatoryembarrassment (e.g. intermittent claudication, or aneurysm).9.11.8 Pulmonary CirculationA history of more than one pulmonary embolism is unacceptable. An episode requirescareful assessment.9.11.9 Cerebro-Vascular DisordersCerebro-vascular accident including evidence of general cerebral arteriosclerosis(including dementia) is unacceptable. Aperson who had stroke is usually unacceptableunless there is no residual impairment which may affect performance.
