I hardly noticed that everyone alsobrought presents wrapped in coloured paper, which were put in a bigpile on the far side of the food.Of course I overindulged. But it was a glorious meal and full oflaughter and happiness. When we had finished, one of the several childrenthere was given the job of handing out the presents. Over the next few days various other things arrived, even a newalms bowl for Ajahn Sucitto; and by the time we left Bodh Gaya, nearlyeverything we had lost had been replaced. We were even offered a water2 7 1
