PC 1000 – INDUSTRIAL GRADE
Properties of PC (polycarbonate – industrial grade)
Material density:
1.20 g/cm 3
Service temperature:
-60 °C to +125/115 °C (5000/20.000 hours)
Unlike the visually impact-resistant "clear" polycarbonate boards
(used in industrial glazing, for example), this is an industrial grade
PC with the same specific
main properties as PC:
• High mechanical strength
• Good creep strength
• Very high impact strength even at low temperatures
• Retains rigidity across a wide temperature range
• Very high dimensional stability (due to very low water absorption
and low linear coefficient of thermal expansion)
• Good electrical insulating properties and good dielectric
behaviour
• Good cutting properties (short cut)
• Physiologically safe
(suitable for contact with foodstuffs)
Comment:
PC semi-finished products are not UV-stabilised, this grade is a
"non-optical PC industrial grade".
Important: PC is prone to stress cracks (if emulsions, cutting oils
and detergents that contain solvents are used, this can lead to
stress cracks).
