DURATRON ® PI
Properties of Duratron ® PI (polyamide)
Material density:
1.27 g/cm 3
Service temperature:
+240/450 °C (20.000 hours/temporary)
Temporary = only a few hours, where no or only low loads may
occur
Duratron ® PI combines a range of fantastic material properties
that make this plastic particularly recommended for applications
that call for low wear and a long service life in extreme ambient
conditions.
Main properties of Duratron ® PI:
• Upper service temperature in air, continuous 240 °C – temporary
up to 450 °C
• Excellent retention of mechanical strength, rigidity and creep
strength over a wide temperature range
• Good sliding properties and excellent wear resistance
• Very good dimensional stability
• Inherently low flammability
• Good electrical insulating properties and dielectric properties
(only applies to Duratron ® D 7000 PI)
• Low gassing in a vacuum (dry material)
• High degree of purity in terms of ionic contamination (Duratron ®
D 7000 PI)
• Excellent resistance to high-energy radiation
Comment:
Duratron ® PI is particularly suitable for application fields where
Duratron ® PAI cannot be used due to thermal requirements, but
where the high thermal resistance of Duratron ® CU 60 PBI is not
necessarily needed.
Grades:
Duratron ® D 7000 PI colour chestnut brown
Offers maximum physical properties along with optimum electrical
and thermal insulation.
Duratron ® D 7015G PI colour greyish black
15 % graphite has been added here to reduce friction and increase
wear service life.
Application:
Valve and pump seats, load-carrying and wearing parts for semiconductor
and electronics production, fasteners and handling
parts for glass and plastic production. Metal replacement for
aerospace components.
Processing:
Difficult (see machining information)
