Symalit ® 1000 PVDF
Properties of Symalit ® 1000 PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride)
Material density:
1.79 g/cm 3
Service temperature:
–30 to +150/160 °C (20.000 hours/temporary)
Temporary = only a few hours, where no or only low loads may
occur
This fluoropolymer has excellent mechanical properties, paired
with outstanding chemical resistance. Chemically speaking,
Symalit ® 1000 PVDF falls between PE HD and PTFE: it is easy
to machine like PE HD, but with its high chemical resistance at
increased temperatures is more like PTFE.
Main properties of Symalit ® 1000 PVDF:
• High upper continuous service temperature limit in air 150 °C
• Good mechanical strength, rigidity and creep strength over
a wide temperature range
• Excellent chemical and hydrolysis resistance
• Good sliding properties and wear resistance
• Outstanding UV and weather resistance
• Good electrical insulating properties
• Physiologically safe
(suitable for contact with foodstuffs)
• Inherent non-flammability
on page 93 we inform you in detail.
Comment:
Symalit ® 1000 PVDF is a thermoplastic structural material with the
properties that are typical of thermoplastics, such as the ability to
be extruded, welded and hot formed.
Grade:
Symalit ® 1000 PVDF colour natural (white)
This is a fluoropolymer that combines good mechanical, thermal
and electrical properties with excellent chemical resistance. The
raw material also complies with the guidelines of the European
Union and the regulations of the American FDA as regards
compatibility with foodstuffs.
Application: Symalit ® 1000 PVDF
A versatile structural material that is used primarily in the
petrochemical, chemical, metallurgical, pharmaceutical, food,
paper, textile and nuclear industries.
Processing:
Can be machined, hot formed and welded – see machining
information
