LANDMARK EVENTSIN ABSORBINGCOUNCIL AGENDA . . .THE Principals and members of StOswald Chapter No 910 were proud tosupport E Comp The Rev Michael Taylor,PPGSN, president, by hosting the JointMeeting of the Affiliated Chapters of theSouth Riding Royal Arch Council at itsregular convocation on 12 January.Over 85 Companions includingpresidents and officers of the sistercouncils attended to readily offer theirsupport, the highlight of which was anaddress in open Chapter by renownedMasonic scholar The Rev Neville Barker-Cryer, PGSoj.The Provincial delegation was headedby E Comp John Briggs, Deputy GrandSuperintendent, accompanied by EComp The Rev Frank Chappell, ThirdProvincial Grand Principal, and E CompTony Kaddish, Assistant to the ProvincialGrand Principals.The Rev Barker-Cryer spoke withaccustomed authority on the landmarkevents that occurred within Masonrybetween 1771, the formation of thePremier Grand Lodge (Moderns), 1751the formation of the Most Ancient andHonourable Society of Free and AcceptedMasons (Antients), through to the Unionof the Grand Lodges in 1813.In tracing this journey E Comp Barker-Cryer gave an account of how theseevents laid the foundations and directlyinfluenced the Royal Arch as we know ittoday.At the Festive Board, E Comp Briggsspoke of the invaluable work undertakenby the Royal Arch Councils and thecontribution they make to the continuingsuccess of the Royal Arch within theProvince, none more so than activelysupporting and promoting the variousinitiatives introduced within their Chapters.OTHER meetings arranged for Royal Arch Councils later this year are:CALDER VALE: Secretary: E CompMichael J LittlewoodEmail: mjlitttlewood@btinternet.comJoint Meeting hosted by The WakefieldChapter No 495on17 May at Zetland Street.
