CONGRATULATIONSTO A CENTENARIANMRS MINNIE "Valentine" Solomoncelebrated her 100th birthday on 14February this year.She has been a widow of The Lodge ofDawn No 6511 for 58 years, her latehusband Bro Henry Solomon havingpassed away in 1953. A deputation fromthe Lodge attended Donisthorpe Hall,home for the elderly, to make apresentation.Mrs Solomon has strong connectionswith Freemasonry in general and TheLodge of Dawn in particular, for in additionto her late husband, her brother, W BroShapiro, late brother-in-law W Bro AlexGoldberg and nephew W Bro RussellGraham, were Masters of Dawn - whileanother brother-in-law, nephew and agreat nephew have been Lodgemembers.She herself is a past master of a ladiesLodge. However, Mrs Solomon isremembered for her part in the formationof The Grand Lodge of Israel (GLI) in1953. On the formation of GLI manyEnglish and Scottish Lodges andindividual masons contributed items tothe Grand Lodge Temple in Jerusalem.The Consecration was attended by WBro Louis Wigoder JP, PAGDC, PPSGW,the first Master of Dawn.
