WAS THIS THE WORLD’S DEEPESTMACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING?BRETHREN in Wakefield, Pontefract and Castleford held an unusualc<strong>of</strong>fee morning at the foot <strong>of</strong> the pit shaft, 140 metres underground, atthe National Coal Mining Museum <strong>of</strong> England at Overton, Wakefield.Nearly 60 Freemasons, along with families and friends, met up withMaria Amoss from Macmillan Cancer Support. Over 40 wentunderground and at the end <strong>of</strong> a guided tour had c<strong>of</strong>fee and biscuitsat the pit bottom before returning in the pitcage to the surface.Local Freemasons met all the costs <strong>of</strong>the event, so when over £600 was donatedthe monies, with Gift Aid, totalled £750.The event was organised by Wakefield,Pontefract & Castleford Installed MastersAssociation members W Bro Tony Clark,W Bro David Pickover, pictured, and W BroStephen Skellern.G.
