DOUBLE BOOST FORRODS AND SOVASHEFFIELD & District Freemasonry inthe Community Committee has beenpleased to support RotherhamOrganisation for Down's Syndrome anda cheque for £1,600 was presented to Sheron Critchlow, secretaryand trustee <strong>of</strong> RODS, at the Kimberworth Bowling Alley when a funevening was had by all on the lanes.The organisation supports local people with Down's syndromeand their families.Community chairman W Bro Craig Bannister is pictured withsome <strong>of</strong> the children and Sheron at the cheque presentation.In a further show <strong>of</strong> support for the community, W Bro Bannisterand committee member W Bro Bernard Eyre handed over £1,600to SOVA Cast (Caring Around Sheffield Together) – a charity whichsupport children up to the age <strong>of</strong> 18 who have been placed in care.They are picturedabove, handing over thecheque to ThelmaWhittaker, manager <strong>of</strong>SOVA.This year, SFITC hopeto support South<strong>Yorkshire</strong> & HallamshireClub for Young Peopleand Sheffield ManorLodge.CHRISTOPHER’S CRUSADE FORCHILD VICTIMS OF CRIME . . .WHEN W Bro Christopher Binns was Master <strong>of</strong> The Lodge <strong>of</strong>Amity No 4148 in 2010, collections were made in aid <strong>of</strong>national charity Child Victim <strong>of</strong> Crime - in addition to moniesdonated to The Provincial Grand Master’s Fund.£500 was raised and W BroBinns presented a cheque toMr Dominic Chambers,national fund raiser for thecharity.Christopher is a retired PoliceOfficer and whilst working as aDetective Inspector on theHomicide and Major Enquiry team <strong>of</strong> <strong>West</strong> <strong>Yorkshire</strong> Police,he frequently came into contact with the Child Victim <strong>of</strong> CrimeCharity and came to admire its work.Child Victims <strong>of</strong> Crime or CVOC is the only national policechildren’s charity and was set up in 1993, in response to theaftermath <strong>of</strong> the terrorist bombing carried out in Warrington.The charity supports any child up to 16 years <strong>of</strong> age whohas been a victim or traumatised by a criminal <strong>of</strong>fencecommitted in the United Kingdom.
