Sustavi grijanja -vodiè za korisnikeFunkcionalno, ekonomično i, na koncu, sa svim osobinama kreativnog, dizajnerskog čina,grijanje je danas izazov te iziskuje osmišljen pristup u odabiru. Nudimo jedan od mogućihmodela tipizacije i kategorizacije sustava grijanja u skladu s uvjetima suvremenog stanovanjai poslovanjaPiše: Nikola ČelanFoto: Arhiva DalCaseOko 80 posto svih troškova energije u kućanstvuotpada na grijanje. Zbog toga je o tomepotrebno sustavno promišljati, često već odtrenutka same izgradnje stambenog prostora.No, bilo da se radi o takvom slučaju, ili pak o naknadnomuvođenju, tipovi grijanja razlikuju se prema nekolikonajvažnijih kriterija i podjela. Tako ih promatramo ovisnoo poziciji grijaćeg tijela u odnosu na prostoriju (lokalno icentralno), njegovoj površini, tehnologiji grijanja, “suhoći”,statičnom ili propuhujućem grijaćem tijelu – iz čegaproizlazi podjela na grijanje orijentirano zagrijavanju zrakaili pak samog grijaćeg tijela koje zatim isijava toplinu.Česte su i kombinacije, pa tako, primjerice, postoje kupaoničkegrijalice koje kombiniraju propuhivanje toplogzraka i čisto isijavanje u ovisnosti o potrebi intenziteta,stupnja zagrijanosti prostorije. Također u novije vrijemepostoje podjele koje su posljedica prodora novih tehnologija,pa se tako razlikuje grijanje konvekcijom odgrijanja toplinskim valovima. Konvektorsku tehnologijupredstavlja najučestaliji njezin oblik u kućanstvima – radijator.Konvekcija ili zračenjeKod zastarjeloga, tradicionalnoga grijanja konvekcijom,riječ je o proizvodnji toplog zraka,koji se fizikalnim zakonitostima izlaže vlazi,onečišćenju anorganskim (prašinom) i organskim(bakterije) tvarima. Tako proizvedentopli zrak podiže se prema vrhu prostorije,dok se hladni zadržava nisko, gdjeje podložan novom zagrijavanju. Vlaga seponovnim zagrijavanjem gubi i zrak postajeneugodno suh te, osim samog osjećajaneugode, izaziva brojne zdravstvenesmetnje, od alergoloških reakcija sve doprovociranja ozbiljnijih, kroničnih tegoba,poput kašlja ili pak astme. Kako bi se opisaleprednosti grijanja zračenjem u odnosuna konvekciju, slikovita je usporedbaprirodnih toplinskih izvora, poput sunca, uodnosu na tropske, fenske vjetrove. Ljudskiorganizam, naime, prirodno je prilagođenupijanju topline od sunca, čije zračenjeon kožom upija u 99 posto cjelokupnogenergetskog potencijala. Vlažno i toplo strujanje zraka,pak, djeluje nepovoljno jer, opet zbog same konstitucijeljudskog organizma, smanjuje mogućnost stabilne apsorpcijeenergije. Osim nepogodnih efekata na zdravljekorisnika, za konvekcijsko grijanje može se zaključiti ikako, uz neravnomjerno zagrijavanje, štetno djelovanjena elemente grijanih prostorija, još i rasipa energiju budućida količina potrebna za opskrbu samog tijela nevraća uloženo na zadovoljavajući način.Podno i zidno grijanje popularni su sustavi grijanja, međutimkritičari i zastupnici sustava zračenja napominju kakoje i tu riječ o lošijoj varijanti u kojoj grijaća površina jestznatno šira od čistoga radijatorskog sustava, međutim tisustavi i dalje ne daju rješenje za štetne efekte, poput,primjerice, podizanja prašine (kod podnoga grijanja).Također ostaje neriješen i problem kondenzacije, kojise kod primjene ovakvih sustava javlja zbog nejednakezagrijanosti različitih površina (kod podnoga grijanja riječje o kondenzaciji na znatno hladnijem stropu) te popratnihštetnih efekata razvijanja plijesni ili napuknuća iotpadanja žbuke.Kao moguća alternativa konvekcijskom načinu grijanja,u zadnje se vrijeme često navode sustavi infracrvenogzračenja, međutim ključni kriterij razlikovanjau njemu i sličnima jest metoda grijanja toplinskimvalovima. Sustavzadržavanja temperature u zemlji funkcionira i ljeti,samo je kod hlađenja proces obrnut: topli zrak hladimopreko vode koja cirkulira iz zemlje koja dulje zadržavahladnoću.Kod opisa svih ovih sustava riječ je bila o praktičnostii ekonomičnosti grijanja. Kombinacije osnovnih tipovai sustava su bezgranične, kao što je slučaj i s njihovimcijenama. One su, pak, ovisne o mnoštvu stavki, kaošto su površina, materijali, građevni uvjeti, položaj, klima...No posebno poglavlje ispisat će dodatna dimenzijaodabira grijanja, a to je dizajn grijaćih tijela. Izborradijatora danas je širi nego ikad, klimatizacijski uređajisvojim dizajnom postaju umjetnička djela, a posebansu hit zadnjih godina najromantičniji, najizvorniji sustavi– ognjišta, kamini. Što se njih tiče, jedino ograničenje zauvođenje kao osnovnog ili dopunskog grijanja u domujest postojanje dimnjaka, njegova lokacija i konstrukcijakamina u odnosu na osobine dimnjaka. Kamini se danaspovezuju s centralnim sustavima, te uz adekvatneprolaze cijevi razdjeljivača toplog zraka oni mogu bitiodlično generalno rješenje za raspodjelu topline unutarčitavog doma. Uz poseban ugođaj vatre koji stvaraju,bilo da se radi o otvorenim ili zatvorenim ložištima, kaminisu dizajnerska intervencija u prostor našeg domai kao posebna estetska kategorija zaokružuju ponudugrijaćeg tijela kao dekorativne vrijednosti u prostoru ukojem živimo.17

But regardless of whetherwe’re talking about that situation or subsequent hea-18ting installation, heating models are divided into severaldifferent groups according to some important criteria.We differentiate them depending on the position ofthe heating object in relation to the room (locally andcentrally), its size, heating technology, “dryness”, staticor venting characteristics – which leads to the diffe-

The convection technologyis represented by the most common heatingobject in households – a radiator.Convection or RadiationThe out-of-date traditional convection heating produceshot air with physical characteristics that allow exposureto humidity and pollution with inorganic (dust)and organic (bacteria) substances. This type of hot airrises towards the top of the room, while the cold airretains its low position and enters another phase of theheating process. Repetitive heating eliminates humidityand the air becomes unpleasantly dry, which notonly causes feelings of discomfort, but can also leadto numerous health problems like allergy reactionsand chronic problems like coughing or asthma. In orderto convincingly describe the advantages of radiationheating as opposed to convection, we will usethe comparison of natural heat sources, like the sun,against warm tropic winds. The human organism is naturallydesigned to absorb heat from the sun, as our skinabsorbs 99 percent of our overall energy potential fromthe sun radiation. The warm and humid air currents, onthe other hand, have an unfavourable effect becausethey reduce the possibility of stable energy absorptiondue to the constitution of the human organism. Besideshaving unfavourable effects on the users’ health,convection heating also disproportionally warms upvarious parts of the room, has a damaging effect onthe elements of the heated room, and produces a lotof wasted energy because the amount that is necessaryto supply the heating object doesn’t reciprocatein adequate fashion.Floor and wall heating are popular heating systems, but19

The condensationissue also remains unresolved, as these systemsare known to cause disproportional heating of differentsurfaces (for example, floor heating has the problemof condensation on the much colder ceiling), as wellas accompanying damaging effects like mould or thefalling off of cracked mortar.In terms of possible alternatives to the convection heatingsystem, we have recently heard a lot about systemsof infrared radiation, but the crucial criterion that differentiatesthat system from many others is the heat-wavemethod of heating. The most common and very reliablemethod of producing heat waves is the good old-fashionedpotassium stove. It is characterized by the lackof any type of hot-air exhaust systems, and it performsits function by radiating heat from a tile, an element ofits own structure, just like people noticed the radiatingpotential of clay and similar materials during the ancientperiod. The physical definition of radiation, the methodthat leaves the air dry, pure and still while proportionallyheating all the walls, which practically transforms theentire room into a heating object, is based on the factthat heat is conducted by electromagnetic waves insteadof heated air compounds. The electricity in thesource’s external layer is produced by the heating processwithin the heat-conductive non-metals, and it penetratesthrough the surface in order to make contactwith the surrounding materials. The secret of this type ofheating is in the much larger surface, which creates amore immobile air with an all-important higher level ofheat conductivity.Although it is more expensive and less economical, the20method of using electricity for heating is still acceptableand very present in our area for one dominant reason– electricity doesn’t require additional storage space(for liquid or wood), which is an extremely important factorwhen it comes to space management. That is wherethe classic convection (radiator) system meets anotheradvanced technology, and that is the fan-coil system.It originated from the combination with the air-conditioningunit, because it features the flow of cold waterfrom the external unit. In addition to purity, that resultsin the lack of any cold currents that appear because ofdisproportional heating of the room (stratification), andit brings more positive effects in another important field– the so-called thermal inertia. Fan-coil systems havethe ability to regulate temperature immediately andwithout any time delays, which is an important factorin the modern lifestyle. Traditional radiator heating ishistorically connected to the lifestyle of past centurieswhen there was always somebody present in the familypremises, but the time spent in those premises has nowbeen reduced and transformed into something moredynamic, which means that we now frequently turn theheating on and off to save energy. In addition to that,fan-coil systems offer numerous advantages regardingour health because of reduced intensity of air circulation,dust lifting and consequential pollution of walls andother elements.Obviously, the main advantages are related to the heatingdynamics and flexibility. However, the remainingproblem is the expensive price of electricity as an energy-generatingproduct. If you’re thinking about choosingan advanced fan-coil system, you should know thatyou will spend significantly less electrical energy, but theoriginal installation is twice as expensive. Along withthe minimal additional expenses, the fan-coil system isalso very convenient for integration into floor heating.However, we must point out that floor heating gene-

Very few accidents caused by machineryor material malfunctions have ever happened, as theyare almost exclusively caused by human mistakes. Thatis why, if you decide to choose this type of heating, youmust pay great attention to the expertise and experienceof the firm that installs and authorizes the system.The central-heating system has another disadvantage,which is particularly evident in warmer areas in the south,and that is the fact that the system offers exclusively– heating. That means that central heating has enormousadvantages in continental parts, where the climatedictates the need of constantly having to keep the largerrooms warm, but the dynamic exchange of warmand cold periods in the Mediterranean coastal areademands a lot of focus on the summer cooling. In thatcontext, central heating is just an additional expense,and all the advantages of air conditioners are suddenlyvery clear.If we correctly choose the heater that can satisfy thedimensions of the space in question, and we make nomistakes when we calculate the losses, the result couldturn out to be more than satisfactory. Maintaining anair conditioner is extremely simple: all we have to do isregularly clean the filters, and clean the inside part ofthe unit once a year because the dust settles on theventilator and the vaporizer. Air conditioners’ main disadvantagesunite the bad sides of convection and22central heating: regardless of whether it’s cooling orheating the air, the air conditioner dries it up, and thereis the important issue of the large difference betweenthe outdoor temperature and the temperature wewant to achieve indoors. To be specific: if we want toachieve 22C in a room that has 17C, the air conditionerwill release a spurt of 27-30 degrees until the roomachieves the desired temperature. That results in thatsame feeling of discomfort that occurs with convectionheating, especially if we are located directly againstthe air currents. Cooling provides the same results: inorder to lower the room temperature from 30 degreesto 25 degrees, the air conditioner will release a spurt of22 degrees, so the direct impact of cold air will createthat same feeling of discomfort. By the way, the condensatethat is released from the air conditioner is nothingmore than humidity from the air in the room, so itwill be helpful if you have some moisturizers, which arealso helpful with central heating.Air conditioners are available in all kinds of shapes andsizes, and they are also fairly accessible. The more expensiveunits should guarantee a longer lifespan, butthe users’ experiences don’t always support that theory.It is quite common that some more expensive units actuallystop working before the least expensive ones, andthe quality of their work is identical. Alsopay attention to the location of the external unit,because it is common knowledge that it producescertain vibrations and noise, as well as the certainamount of hot air.When we analyze all the factors, an air conditioneris the less expensive option of cooling and heating,but the better systems with more quality are describedwithin the fan-coil system.Advanced Systems and Heating AestheticsThe concept of solar heating is still not very developedin our country, and it presents an option foradditional heating without really being able to functionautonomously. Significant improvements aresurely expected in the future, and benefits for thoseusing solar energy are determined on governmentlevels. Another contemporary method is called EES– earth energy system, which uses heat from theground. With the condition of a larger courtyard,an excavator installs pipes about two metres underthe ground. They are eventually connected tothe heating-system pump, and because the earthtemperature is higher than the air temperature, thewater absorbs the heat by circulating through theground and, with some additional heating, deliversthe heat to the residential space. This systemalso functions during the summer, but the coolingprocess is obviously reversed: the hot air is cooledthrough the water that circulates from the ground,which retains colder temperatures for a longer periodof time.While we were describing all these systems, we exclusivelydealt with how practical or economical theheating was. Combinations between these primarytypes and systems are endless, and so are their prices.They depend on numerous factors, such assize, materials, construction conditions, location,climate... But a special chapter belongs to an additionaldimension in the process of choosing heatingsystems, and that is the design of the heatingobjects. The choice of radiators is more diverse thanit’s ever been, while air conditioners are becomingtrue little pieces of art thanks to their designs. However,the last several years have produced a true hitin the form of the most romantic and original systems– fireplaces. Prvi radovina Areni počeli su u srpnju 2007. godine, a službenootvorenje se očekuje koncem prosinca ove godine.Kako je riječ o kratkom roku za jedan poprilično složengrađevinski projekt, na gradilištu trenutačno radi 750radnika u tri smjene.Multifunkcionalna Arena Zagreb, s VIP-ložama i prostorimaza medije, moći će primiti 15.200 posjetitelja, a nakonSvjetskoga rukometnog prvenstva koristit će se za brojnasportska, kulturna, zabavna i poslovna događanja.Tereni će zadovoljavati uvjete za mali nogomet, odbojku,stolni tenis, badminton, hrvanje, gimnastiku, boks, tenisi košarku, a, prema potrebi, pomicanjem teleskopskihtribina dvorana će imati i atletsku stazu koja će zadovoljavatii najzahtjevnije standarde.Projektanti su predvidjeli i mogućnost raznih inačica pregrađivanjadvorane za moguća istodobna događanja.Arena će sadržavati i popratne ugostiteljske i poslovnokomercijalnesadržaje, te malu dvoranu za treninge.Parkirališno-garažni prostor moći će primiti 926 automobilai 38 autobusa.Na Svjetskom rukometnom prvenstvu, u Areni Zagrebodigravat će se utakmice u jednoj od skupina drugogkruga, polufinale i finale prvenstva.Split – Spaladium ArenaSljedeća rukometna arena gradi se u Splitu, gdje seužurbano dovršava golemi sportski kompleks imenaSpaladium Arena, čija je vrijednost oko 147 milijunaeura. Najvećem hrvatskom gradu na obali pripala ječast odigravanja prve rukometne utakmice, što znači islužbeno otvorenje Svjetskog prvenstva.Spaladium Arena se gradi prema projektu zagrebačkogstudija 3LHD, koji je projektirao i Rivu. Budući da jeriječ o kompleksu koji će se prostirati na istočnom dijeluratne luke Lora i zapadnom dijelu Brodosplita, te će bitivelik oko 135 tisuća četvornih metara, on će se raditi pomodelu javno-privatnog partnerstva u kojem Grad Splitkonzorciju Konstruktor-Dalekovod-IGH, odabranom nanatječaju, daje pravo građenja na zemljištu u Lori.Sama Spaladium Arena ima bruto površinu od 28.500kvadrata, a dvorana je kapaciteta do 12.000 sjedećihmjesta. Dvorana A ukupno ima 3538mjesta, dvorana B 1448 mjesta, dok je u dvoranama C,D i F moguće postaviti po 200 pomičnih mjesta za sjedenje.Osim sportskih događanja, ova će višenamjenskadvorana svojim oblikom, veličinom i funkcionalnom organizacijomomogućiti i održavanje zabavnih, kulturnihi medijskih aktivnosti (izložbe, sajmovi, koncerti, modnerevije, kongresi, festivali i sl.). Sportski centar Žatika, vrijedannešto više od 17 milijuna eura, gradi tvrtka Parentium.Višenamjenska dvorana, ukupne bruto površine 14 tisućačetvornih metara, gradi se prema projektu Arhitektonskogfakulteta u Zagrebu, profesorice Sonje Jurković.Sportski centar Žatika se sastoji od velike dvorane s gledalištemkoje će moći primiti 3700 gledatelja na teleskopskim,fiksnim i montažnim tribinama. U sklopu dvoraneće biti ambulanta, manja gimnastička dvorana,osam svlačionica, prostor za trenere i suce, restoran,press-centar. Osim sporta,u Gradskoj sportskoj dvorani održavat će se i koncerti,bit će korištena i kao kongresni centar, ali u njoj ćese moći održavati i razni drugi veliki medijski događaji,izložbe, razne revije i slično.U tom prostoru je i muzejski izložbeni prostor dijela povijestivaraždinskog i hrvatskog sporta, uključujući olimpijskidio iz donacije Artura Takača.Sportska funkcija je dominantna, ali ne i jedina. Zadovoljavauvjete natjecanja u svim dvoranskim sportovima,posebice u rukometu, odbojci i košarci. U njoj seplanira održavanje niza programa, od treninga, škola,do rekreativnog korištenja pojedinih prostora. Dvoranabi služila i za raznovrsna scenska događanja ili skupoves velikim brojem gledatelja ili sudionika. Osim sveganabrojenoga, u sklopu ove multinamjenske dvoranenalaze se kuglana, dvorane za wellness i fitness, sauna,masaža, VIP prostor, kuhinja, restoran, press-centar teprostori komercijalne namjene.Izvan same dvorane bit će, osim velikog parkirališta,rukometni teren, koji će se tijekom zimskih mjeseci pretvoritiu klizalište, teniski tereni, igralište za odbojku i rukometna pijesku te košarkaško igralište.Zadar – Dvorana Krešimira ĆosićaUz Split, Zadar je drugi dalmatinski grad koji je jedan oddomaćina Svjetskog prvenstva. Radovi na dvorani, kojadanas nosi ime legendarnog hrvatskog košarkaša KrešimiraĆosića, počeli su još 2004. godine, a završeni suproljetos. Zadar se ipak malo razlikuje od ostalih domaćinabudući da se ovdje ne gradi samo jedna dvorana,nego golemi sportsko-rekreacijski centar imena Višnjik,vrijedan oko 30 milijuna eura. U njemu se tako nalazedva objekta, zatvoreno plivalište i polivalentna sportskadvorana (Krešimir Ćosić) te nova košarkaška dvorana.Osim glavne dvorane s kompletnim pogonom, koja ćemoći primiti 8600 gledatelja, grade se još četiri polivalentnedvorane s vlastitim pomoćnim pogonom. Polukružnudvoranu u obliku ljuske s kupolom, projektirao jeMarijan Hržić, a radove izvodi tvrtka Lavčević-Inženjering.Zatvorena dvorana s bazenom, koju je projektiraoNikola Bašić, dimenzija je 33 puta 25 metara, a bazen ćebiti pogodan za sve vodene sportove. Sama DvoranaKrešimira Ćosića je arena kružnog oblika, pod čijom ćese kupolom, visine od 30 m, moći odigravati košarkaškei rukometne utakmice te organizirati teniski turniri. To jesuvremena građevina u kojoj će sportaši, tvrde Zadrani,s užitkom igrati svoje utakmice, a gledatelji ugodnoboraviti i imati zadovoljstvo u takvom okruženju uživatiu sportskim spektaklima. Uz samu dvoranu na sjevernojstrani nalazi se parkirališni prostor s 450 mjesta za automobile.27

This multifunctional arena’s immediate surroundingwill be decorated in line with the primary function ofa clear and well-dimensioned walking approach roadfor visitors.VaraždinThe City Sports Arena in Varaždin, worth slightly under30 million Euros, was constructed faster than any otherarena in this text. Although the grand opening won’t takeplace before December 6th, the arena is already hostingvarious events. This project was created by an architectonicteam from Varaždin Coning-Engineering with AGPlanum, while the construction work was performed bycompany Max Bogl-Tehnobeton.

In addition to all that,this multifunctional arena also features a bowling alley,wellness and fitness premises, sauna, massage room, VIProom, kitchen, restaurant, press centre and commercialpremises.In addition to the large parking area, the outside of thebuilding will also feature a handball court, which will beturned into a skating rink during the winter period. Svakako valja zatražiti ivaljanu potvrdu da je agencija pokrivena osiguranjem.Dakle, to bi bio prvi korak. Drugi korak jest lista zadovoljnihklijenata i barem nekakva tradicija – agencija kojaposluje na obostrano zadovoljstvo kupaca i prodavateljaveć duži niz godina je svakako bolji izbor od onekoja radi “od jučer”. Agencija koja svoj posao obavljatransparetno te ima stručno osposobljen stručni timje svakako prava agencija. Zakonskim odredbama jeutvrđena i maksimalna provizija za usluge u posredovanju.Ona iznosi najviše šest posto od ugovorene cijene,a svi koji kupuju, odnosno prodaju nekretninu, morajubiti svjesni toga da posrednici taj novac moraju zaraditi.Unatoč tome, mnogo je onih koji zbog neznanja ineupućenosti ostaju zakinuti kod poslovanja, a provizijuuredno plate.33

Tako je na posrednikuda učini sljedeće: sudjeluje s prodavateljemu formiranju realne cijene, pribavi svupotrebnu dokumentaciju koju bi kupci trebaliimati na uvidu, što uključuje i provjeru vlasništvate je li dotična osoba pravno ovlaštena daprimi ugovorenu novčanu svotu, ishodovanjesvježe dokumentacije od katastra i gruntovnice,eventualno pravo služnosti, postoje li nanekretnini stvarni tereti i založna prava (hipoteka),pa i ono što mnoge agencije nerijetkozaborave učiniti – provjeru svih postojećih dugovakoji se tiču određene nekretnine. O svimsaznanjima, odnosno potvrdama koje posrednikprikupi, moraju biti obaviješteene objestrane. Dalje, na posredniku je da štiti, poštujete, konačno, ujedini interese obiju strana prisastavljanju ugovora. Isti ugovor mora biti danna uvid i kupcu i prodavatelju, a za sastavljanjeugovora trebao bi biti zadužen pravnik kojisurađuje s agencijom. Kod ugovora je potrebnomnogo opreza jer nema tako davno da suugovore sastavljale osobe s osnovnom školomu kuhinji svog stana. I najmanja nespretnost prisastavljanju ugovora može rezultirati kobnimposljedicama – agencija koja je radila na crnomože nestati preko noći, a kupac neće moćiishodovati vlasnički list. Nakon ovjeravanjaugovora, agencija mora isti predati na uknjižbute prijaviti porez. Ozbiljna agencija bi svakuod navedenih obveza trebala obaviti agilno,stručno i pouzdano, no ako bi se slučajno dogodiloda kod primopredaje nekretnine dođedo nejasnoća i eventualnog spora, pravi ćeposrednik spor riješiti u što kraćem roku, na zadovoljstvoobiju strana.34Kupnja bez agencije – najskuplja kupnjaBoljih i lošijih posrednika će uvijek biti, no kad jekupnja, pa i prodaja nekretnine u pitanju, valjase potruditi i odabrati najbolje posrednike.Tako prije kupnje, odnosno prodaje, valja uložitimalo vremena, raspitati se o ugledu nekeagencije, zatražiti sve potvrde koje bi moglebiti indikativne i bez ikakvih ustručavanja odposrednika tražiti svaku informaciju koja jevažna za obavljanje posla. Kada se česticevraćaju molekulama u atmosferi, nastaje polarna svjetlostrazličitih boja. U blizini grenlandskoga grada Kangerlussuaqapostoji znanstvena postaja za istraživanje polarnesvjetlosti. Zimski mrak postaje jednak ponoćnom suncui jednako fascinantan. Tijekom tjedna sunce se ne dižeiznad obzora. Krajolik je posve u bijelome, dok zvijezde,mjesec i polarna svjetlost pružaju svjetlost nekoliko svijećapotrebnih za osvjetljenje snijega. Kažu da polarna svjetlostdjeluje poput predivnog sna koji nikada ne nestaje.Kultura i povijestGrenlanđani su narod koji nikada nije započeo rat niti jesudjelovao u sukobima. Mnogi su Inuiti, ili popularno zvani Eskimi,radi ribolova i prijevoza sami izgradili kajake. Kultura i tradicijaoduvijek su posebno cijenjene, pa se tako u JužnomGrenlandu nalaze dobro očuvane vikinške ruševine od prije1000 godina, a tamo su i ruševine prve kršćanske crkve nakontinentu Sjeverne Amerike. Glazba i kazalište temelje sena mitovima i sagama, koje se prenose u modernom oblikui vrlo su popularne. Zanimljivost Grenlanda su i tupilaks, malegroteskne figure isklesane iz morževih zubi ili sobovih rogovakoje su postale poznati suvenir. Mnogi umjetnici danas ihizrađuju u različitim oblicima i s različitim karakterima.Poduzetnici s Grenlanda dosjetili su se kako bi, zbog pojačanepotražnje svjetskog stanovništva za pitkom vodom,na tržište mogli plasirati vodu u bocama s Grenlanda i arktičkihledenjaka. Istraživanje tržišta pokazalo je da za čistui originalnu vodu s tog otoka posebno zanimanje pokazujuJapanci i Amerikanci. Svoj originalni proizvod Grenlanđanisu zato odlučili brendirati i zaštititi te tako dokazati da jevoda koju će prodavati iznimne čistoće i autentičnosti. Inače,goleme zalihe pitke vode najvažniji su resurs Grenlandai danas oni vode veliki biznis u izvozu leda i ledenih kocki.Mnogi vjeruju da će im prodavanje izvorne vode postati jošprofitabilnije.Na udaru velikih promjenaZemlju snijega, ledenjaka i divljih životinja stižu brojne klimatskepromjene. Beskrajna područja vječnog leda ubrzanose tope. Stanovnici zaselaka, navikli na prizore laganog,lijenog klizanja ledenih santi, uvjerili su se kako je njihovaokolina odnedavno puna plutajućih komada leda i malihledenjaka. Iako su oni i dalje prekrasan prizor, tamošnjemstanovništvu otežavaju prelazak preko zaljeva. Zapregepasa koje su vukle saonice sve do sredine zaljeva gdje selovi najbrojnija i najkvalitetnija riba, sada više nisu sigurne, aled je svake zime sve tanji. IzoliranjemDNK uzorka ustvrdili su da su u gustim smrekovim i borovimšumama prije 800.000 godina živjeli razni kukci i leptiri. Također,uspjeli su dokazati da je klima južnog Grenlanda, koji jedanas pokriven ledom debljine dva kilometra, nekad davnobila puno toplija te da su to područje prekrivale gustešume.Grenland u svojem aranžmanu nudi predivne trenutke svimzaljubljenicima u zimske, adrenalinske sportove i život dalekood suvremene civilizacije. A more detailed analysis of theobject reveals complex interventions of classic and chicstyles, such as the spiral staircases or vivacious paintingconstructions on the walls. It is noticeable that the authorwanted to create a pleasant, “neighbourly” restaurantthat only offers an actual designer experience to thosewho dare to spend some time inside, and that is closelyconnected to the themed menus of the world-famousculinary wizard. The restaurant furniture combines modernand archaic qualities in a very unusual way, as itattempts to achieve a designer step forward within arustic context. For example, rough wood is combinedwith glossy chairs and tables in provocative pink colours,courtesy of Philippe Starck in his finest edition. The wirestructures in the entrance and the ground floor’s metalequipment discretely contrast the basement’s courageousdesign and light-filled interior. These elementsachieve a natural gradation of the designer idea andperformance, which follows the guest from the entrancethrough all of the restaurant zones.The menu is typically Italian, which means that it is basedon pasta, fish, meat and vegetables, while Jamie alsoleaves plenty of room for pizzas, soups, salads and risottos.The menu covers an incredible amount of ground,and it is very easy to notice the methodology of closelycombining and adjusting the pre-analyzed Italian traditionalcuisine with Jamie’s personal author inventions. Forexample, certain traditional specialties, mostly salads, arenow featured with “Oliver” attributes like “the sexiest”,“wonderful” and so on. Besides for this “casual” menu,Jamie’s Italian also offers various themed menus, suchas the Christmas edition that is already being prepared,and due to the fact that it comes in limited edition thatdepends on the interest and the number of applications,you will need to reserve your spot in advance to havethat experience. Modernistički oprez zamijenjen je postmodernističkomravnodušnošću i nehajem (barem na prvipogled), što je vjerojatno rezultat zbunjenosti novimpojavama koje nailaze, ali i fascinacijom istima.Da slika kao medij umjetničkog izražavanja ne moranužno imati uporište u fizičkoj pojavnosti, potvrđenoje već toliko puta tijekom prošlog stoljeća. Fotografijaju je odavno zamijenila i pokazala se primjerenijomkao mimikrički odraz stvarnoga, a sama slika setransformirala, mijenjala, postajala gesta, apstrakcijai praznina, da bi se uvijek nanovo vraćala i bavilase sama sobom, svojim odnosom prema stvarnosti,ali svaki put u novom, promijenjenom kontekstu. Mijenjalase dinamikom promjene stvarnosti, katkadagotovo harmonično, ponekad, pak, u suparničkomodnosu i oštrom suprotstavljanju.Slike Petre Grozaj svakako se naslanjaju na stvarno,ali ne uvijek na istu razinu stvarnosti. Iz njih jemoguċe iščitati umjetničin senzibilitet za neku vrstu“artificijelne doživljajnosti”, pristup medijskoj slicikao “realnosti stvarnijoj od stvarnosti same”, naneki način adaptirajući i vlastiti imaginarij, uzimajućisimulakrum kao legitimno polazište i izbor. Najboljiprimjer za takav tretman subjekta bila je izložba uGaleriji “Josip Račić” u Zagrebu iz 2006. godine, naziva“Gospođice iz kataloga”, kada se umjetnicapredstavila nizom prikaza ženskih lica, portretimabezimenih modela izvađenih iz zastarjelih, prošlosezonskihmodnih magazina. Najupečatljivije kodtih plastičnih, specifičnih, standardiziranih lica jesupraznine očnih jabučica koje otkrivaju monotonetonove pozadine, evocirajući pomalo morbidneosjećaje kod promatrača, suočenog s nečim poputživuće ljudske maske. Praznina se probija i krozusnu šupljinu i nozdrve ženskih lica, svodeći seduktivni,erotizirani izraz lica s naslovnica na grotesknuizobličenost humanoidnih naznaka. Iako je autorskikomentar evidentan, lako čitljiv, on ne sadrži prenaglašenu,moralizatorsku notu ni lamentaciju nadeksploatatorskom moći medija, kao ni toliko putaispričanu priču o alijenaciji i gubitku identiteta. PetraGrozaj tek naznačuje ili dijagnosticira stanje slikarskimpostupkom (suprotstavljajući princip skiciranja,crne oštre linije obrisa, onim slikarskim, koristećigotovo prozirne, ali i guste namaze boje), kao i samimgalerijskim postavom, pri čemu uz slike nejednakihdimenzija prožetih istim motivom, izlaže i sammodni katalog iz kojega su lica preuzeta i koji joj jeposlužio kao baza.U predgovoru “Gospođicama iz kataloga”, likovnakritičarka Ivana Mance čita rad Petre Grozaj uvodećiu svoje izlaganje pojmove traume i simptom,“Svaki moment našega govora i ponašanja potencijalnije simptom potisnute traume koji ne možemokontrolirati, ali i jedino mjesto s kojeg joj možemoindirektno pristupiti.” Ženske figure na Petrinim slikama“postaju simptomatski fragmenti neke skrivenefabule”. Big mouth strikes again, 190x300 cmtrašnjosti autorskog subjekta, nego u realnosti komunikacije.Slikarski čin Petre Grozaj u potpunosti je usmjerenprema gledatelju, takoreći egzibicionistički: otvorenopokazujući sljepilo, njeni se likovi nude pogledu, ali istovremenouskraćuju kao objekti; demonstrativno naslikanipreko klišeiziranih ženskih lica koja i nisu drugo negolinotorni pornografski objekti(...).”Sama autorica svoj rad objašnjava ovim riječima: „Slikesu odraz suvremenog društva u kojem živim, te su medijza reflektiranje vlastite introspekcije, situacija i odnosa, usvojevrsnom ironijskom odmaku. Zanima me kako u raduprikazati prolaznost i stalnu mijenu. Diptih, triptih i poliptihkoristim kao bazičnu formu izražavanja. Na taj se načinuspijevam doreći i zaokružiti cjelinu.”Kod Petre Grozaj zanimljiv je i umjetnički postupak kojičesto primjenjuje, svojevrsno recikliranje vlastitih radova.“Neke slike višeslojno obrađujem, tj. ponovno se njimabavim nakon što su bile završene i izlagane. Uništavanjemstarog sadržaja dozvoljavam promjenu, odustajem odgotovosti, statičnosti slike kako bih na istoj površini dobilanovi smisao, red i kompoziciju.” Tako je na izložbi “Recikliranje”u galeriji “Nova” 2004. godine svoje stare radoveu stilu pop-arta osvježavala novim uplivima crteža i slike,poput nadrealističkih vizija, u nestvarnim odnosima veličinai u neomeđenom obzorju.62Već svojom prvom samostalnom izložbom u GalerijiSC-a, prije desetak godina, nakon izaska s Akademije,Petra Grozaj se predstavila kao već profilirana likovnaumjetnica, čije su slike autorefleksivni odrazi vlastitihduhovnih stanja, jake ekspresivnosti. Tijekom sljedećihgodina njezin je umjetnički izraz postao fokusiraniji, zreliji,a da nije žrtvovana ona “nepodnošljiva lakoća stvaranja”koja ju je karakterizirala kao umjetnicu od samihpočetaka. Njezin je izraz svjež, intrigantan, te predstavljadirektan izazov promatraču, svojevrsnu “rukavicubačenu u lice”.Jedno od zadnjih predstavljanja svojih radova, Petra jeimala u šarmantnom zagrebačkom arty dućanu/galeriji“Prostor”, u Mesničkoj ulici, koji često otvara vrata mlađojgeneraciji umjetnika čiji se radovi uklapaju u cjelokupnufilozofiju „Prostora“, mjesta kreativnosti domaćihumjetničkih i dizajnerskih snaga.Petra Grozaj rođena je 1974. u Zagrebu gdje je završilaŠkolu za primijenjenu umjetnost i dizajn. The rift between bodyand spirit has seemingly reached gigantic proportions,but that hardly concerns the postmodernist “zeitgeist”.The modernist sense of caution has been replaced bypostmodernist indifference and nihilism (at least that’swhat appears at first glance), which is probably the resultof being simultaneously confused and fascinated by newthings on the horizon.Over the course of the last century, it has been repeatedlyconfirmed that a painting as a medium doesn’thave to originate from physical reality. It has long beenreplaced by photography, which has proven to be farmore appropriate as a mimicked reflection of reality,while the painting itself was going through transforma-63

Petra Grozaj’s paintings arecertainly based on reality, just not on the same level of realityat all times. They reveal the artist’s sensibility for sometypes of “artificial experiences” and an approach to mediaimages as “reality that is more real than actual reality”,while also adapting her own world of images and findingsimulacrum to be a legitimate choice and starting point.The perfect example of this subject treatment is her 2006exhibit called “Girls from the Catalogue” at the Josip RačićGallery in Zagreb, when the artist presented herself with astring of female faces, portraits of nameless models fromfashion magazines of previous years. The display of theseplastic, specific, standardized faces put emphasis on voidsin their eyeballs, which revealed monotonous shades ofbackground and evoked slightly morbid feelings from theobservers, as they faced something that resembles a livinghuman mask. The emptiness found its way through the oralcavity and female nostrils by reducing a seductive, eroticexpression on these magazine-cover faces to the grotesquedeformation of slight humanoid traces. Althoughthe author’s comment is self-explanatory, it doesn’t containthat overemphasized preaching note or a lamentationover the exploitation power of the media, nor does it focuson the worn-out story about alienation and loss of identity.Petra Grozaj only implies or diagnoses the situation with herpainting procedure (contrasting the sketching principle,which uses sharp and black lines, with the painting principle,which uses both transparent and thick layers of colour),as well as with the line up of the gallery display, which seesher not only use different-sized paintings with the same motif,but also the very fashion catalogue that served her asthe base to find those faces.In the foreword to “Girls from the Catalogue”, art criticIvana Mance comments on the work of Petra Grozaj by introducingterms like “traumas” and “symptoms” into her interpretation,and she says: “Every moment of our talking orbehaviour is a potential symptom of a suppressed traumathat we can’t control, but also the only place from whichwe can indirectly approach it.” Female figures on Petra’spaintings “become symptomatic fragments of some hiddenstoryline”. Mance cleverly concludes her extensiveanalysis by stating that “the reality that is implied by thepainting doesn’t occur as an event from the past, but ratheras a projection from the future; its basis is not featured inthe psychological world of the author’s subject, but ratherin the reality of communication. Petra Grozaj’s paintings arecompletely directed towards the audience in almost exhibitionistmanner: by openly demonstrating their blindness,her characters are begging to be observed while withholdingas objects at the same time; they are demonstrativelypainted over the stereotypical female faces that are nothingelse but notorious pornographic objects (...)”.The author explained her work with the following words:“Paintings are a reflection of the contemporary societyI live in, and serve as a medium to reflect my own introspection,situations and relationships with a certain ironicdetachment. I am curious to find ways to express passage

Inthat way, I succeed in my attempts to complete and expressthe entire situation”.Petra Grozaj implements another interesting artistic procedure,and that is recycling her own previous projects.“I process some of my paintings in several layers by continuingto work on them after they’ve already beencompleted and shown to the public. By destroying theold contents, I am allowing change and not letting mypaintings be finalized or static. My goal is to create a newmeaning, order and composition on the same surface”.For example, the “Recycling” exhibit in Nova Gallery in2004 witnessed Petra freshen up her old projects in thespirit of pop-art by applying new drawings and paintingmoves, in a way that is similar to surrealistic visions withunreal size relations in a horizon with no boundaries.With her very first solo exhibit at SC Gallery about tenyears ago, straight after her graduation from the Academy,Petra Grozaj presented herself as a fully formed artist,whose paintings are extremely expressive and auto-reflexiveimages of her own spiritual processes. Over the followingyears, her artistic expression became even morefocused and mature, without bringing in question her“unbearable ease of creating” that has characterizedher as an artist from the very beginnings. Her expression isfresh and intriguing, and it presents a direct challenge tothe audience, daring them to “step up to the plate”.Petra had one of her last recent exhibits in a charmingarty store/gallery “Prostor” in Mesnička Street in Zagreb,which often opens its doors to a younger generation ofartists whose works fit into the general philosophy of “Prostor”as a place of creativity from local artists and designers.Petra Grozaj was born in 1974 in Zagreb, where she graduatedfrom the School of Applied Arts and Design. Itsnewly opened sibling edition, Levi’s 25 HoursHotel has won the 2008 Hotel Property Award, whichwas awarded in Munich last month at the EuropeanHotel Development Forum conference. The crucial aspectof participating in the forum’s competition is whatbrand owners usually refer to as “harmonious conceptof architecture, design and innovation”. For the sixthtime, the same category featured luxurious and familyhotels, as well as private objects, with the goal ofestablishing unique criteria of values. They are used toadvance the offer of European hotels in all elements,with emphasis on their visual, aesthetic dimension andits integration within the hotels’ primary function of providingservice to their clients.The mission of the 25 Hours brand is to attempt to exchangeexperiences of luxurious hotel business in a contextof nomadic urban lifestyle, which aims to createan atmosphere for a more relaxed, casual approachto the visitors’ hotel and tourist experience. While notlosing any points on the quality of their hotels, the brand70wants to primarily appeal to younger population by usingarchitecture, design and the hotels’ offering to encourageinquisitive and communicative characteristicsfrom their guests.Levi’s 25 Hours is located right next to the main railwaystation in Frankfurt, and it especially prides itself on thefact that, despite the favouring traffic position, it succeedsto avoid the damaging effects of the big city’srush and noise. The hotel’s location is intentionally connectedto the enormous Frankfurt Fair, which is perhapsthe biggest and most important brand in this city, andhas a reputation that goes way beyond German borders.Timeless, but still close and intimate – this is how the Levi’sHotel is often described, and it attempts to encourageus to develop a relationship that is as close as the onewe have with our pair of favourite jeans. Unlike the luxuriouslydesigned and furnished Goldman, Levi’s offers adominant breath of tradition to its guests, despite beinglocated in the business and banking centre of Frankfurt.In this case, the term “tradition” mostly relates to theexperience of “everybody’s second culture” – Americanpop culture. The authors of this hotel’s design,

Soba u stilu 30-ih / 30’s style roomsculptor Michael Dreher and painter Delphine Buhro,derived elements of that tradition from the pop-culturalelements of design, fashion and music throughout thelast six decades of the twentieth century. By using thisglobal vision, the hotel wants to introduce the visitor tothe virtues that are most emphasized – refreshing innovationand great attention to details. Another specialdimension is provided in extremely successful organizationand motivation in the arrangement of these details,which doesn’t affect the hotel’s sense of spontaneity;in fact, it introduces a dose of playfulness and casualdecor that completely eliminates a stiff and serious approachto design. In order to avoid this playfulness doingany harm to the hotel’s quality of structure, the authorssystematically used the finest top-quality materialssuch as soft knitwear, which was combined with roughleather and glossy copper matrixes. As far as coloursgo, the rooms are dominated by the blue colour in cobaltand azure tones, in addition to turquoise, ultramarineand indigo.The hotel’s functionality is evident in its 76 rooms, whichare significantly placed in M, L and XL categories, andwhich are designed individually with usage of theabovementioned shades of blue as their basic differentialcriterion. Besides colour, the rooms are also furnisheddifferently – furniture, lamps, carpets, wallpapersand basic materials are also divided in three basic categories.Five rooms are featured in the highest XL category,while all the guests can also use a unique 100-m2guest space and an attractive roof terrace.Due to the fact that the entire hotel varies from theatmospheric “classic” context to the “stonewashed”everyday atmosphere, one of the added brands is presentedin the form of famous Frankfurt catering serviceNykke & Kokki. Restaurant Red Tab is also identified asan everyday place with a “down to earth” feel. Levi’svalues have found their gastronomic interpretation inoffering the finest homemade bread and accompanyingsandwiches, salads and desserts. The food is primarilybased on bread and milk products, as well as a paletteof simple meals like spaghetti, meat dishes, soupsand inventive vegetable dishes. The Red Tab cooks displaythe highest level of creativity in the salad menuand “cold bread”, which comes in unusual combinationswith, for example, catfish, fruit or different pumpkinproducts like oil and seeds.71

Milanski modni dizajner Antonio Fusco i njegova suprugaPatrizia / Milan fashion designer Antonio Fusco andhis wife Patriziasuprotnosti sa svijetom Antonija Fusca, koji voli nježnost isvjetlo. Jedini nalog dizajnera i njegove supruge arhitektuGiovanniju Paccaniju, bio je da kuću redizajnira takoda bude jednostavna i zrači smirenošću. Paccani je prvosrušio niske zidove i vanjski crveni pod od cedrovine zamijenioglinenim ciglama, dok je unutarnji pod tretirao acidnomkiselinom i na taj način postigao da bude u jednojod svijetlih boja pijeska, sličnoj onoj s otočne plaže.Sve u bijelomeSvi stupovi, grede, vrata i prozori obojeni su u bijelo, najdražuAntonijevu boju i simbol elegancije njegova dizajna.Bijela je upotrijebljena na gotovo cijelom dekoru,poput laganih pamučnih zastora koji vijore na laganompovjetarcu, a te su boje i sofe, kreveti i otomani. Strong cement columns, coveredin imitation of granite, had a very rough feel to themand were devoid of any grace. That entire interior, alongwith its decorations and furnishing methods, had absolutelynothing to do with Antonio Fusco’s world, which isall about grace and light. The only instruction that thedesigner and his wife gave to architect Giovanni Paccaniwas to transform the house into a simple facilitywith a calming effect on everybody present. Paccani’sfirst move was to remove the low stone walls, while theoutdoor red-cedar flooring got replaced by clay bricks.On the inside, the floors were acid-treated in order toachieve that bright sand colour, which dominates thebeaches on the island.An All-White EnsembleAll the columns, beams, doors and windows were repaintedwhite, as that is Antonio’s favourite colour anda symbol of the elegance in his design. Putujući godinama po raznim europskim zemljama,Ludovik Cuk iz Lendave najviše se oduševiokućama s debelim slamnatim krovovima u Nizozemskoj,pa je svoj dom iz snova odlučio napravitiu tom stilu.Slamnati krov debljine 35 centimetara ne samo da skrivapravu ljepoticu lendavskih gorica nego ima i vrlo korisnufunkciju – ispod trstike nema nimalo zračenja jer ona neutralizirasvaku radijaciju. Tu je velikidrveni stol za objedovanje, a zid krase ikone poznateslovenske umjetnice Irene Polanec. Za udobne trenutkegledanja televizije, tu je ljuljačka koju je domaćica Irenanaručila iz Ikee.Možda je najzanimljiviji podatak da u konstrukciji kućenije upotrijebljen nijedan čavao! Naime, kuća je cijelanapravljena od drva i stakla, a svaka greda se spajalatako da ulazi u drugu gredu i lijepi se posebnom vrstomljepila. Dvaput godišnje domaćini premazuju cijelu kućupčelinjim voskom radi bolje zaštite.Minimalistički uređene sobeOko kamina i šanka vode zakrivljene stube na kat kućegdje su spavaće sobe. Uređene su gotovo minimalistički,u nature stilu, a obitelj se često našali kako bi im nanjima zavidjeli i Flingstonesi! Na prvi pogled čini se kakou sobama nedostaju ormari, no sve je vješto skriveno uugradbene ormare, police i slamnate košare. Svaka sobaima i vlastitu kupaonicu, uređenu u zemljanim tonovima,ali prilagođenu najsuvremenijim potrebama – masašni tuševibrzo se mogu pretvoriti u saunu!Uz razne obiteljske uspomene, za oko zapinju i figuriceanđela koje naša domaćica jako voli, a uz strast premaporculanskom posuđu, posebno je ponosna na kuhinjukoja je oslikana u tvornici Budućnost u Mariboru gdje suzaposlene osobe s tjelesnim nedostacima. Oslikani detaljina ormarima predstavljaju četiri godišnja doba, a u tradicionalnomstilu su i ukrasne zavjese, posebno štrikane is uzorkom, a radile su ih žene iz mađarske pokrajine Zalamegye.– Svaki detalj u kući birali smo sa srcem, tako da doista možemoreći kako ova kuća ima dušu – kaže Irena Cuk.83

The house is made of wood and glassin its entirety, and every beam entered another beamwhile being attached with a special type of glue. Twotimes a year, the hosts decide to coat the entire housewith bee wax, which improves the protection level.Minimalist-Style RoomsThe area around the fireplace and bar reveals a roundedstaircase that leads to the house’s upper floor, whichis where we find the bedrooms. Their style is almostminimalist and features a lot of nature elements, whichcauses the family to often joke about the Flintstones beingenvious of them. When you first enter the room, itappears as though some closets are missing, but everythingis skilfully hidden in built-in closets, shelves andstraw baskets. Every room has its own bathroom, whichis decorated in earth tones but features a lot of contemporaryequipment – massage showers can quicklytransform into a sauna!Alongside various family memories, our attention isdrawn to angel figures that our hostess is very fond of,and along with being passionate about porcelain dishes,she is particularly proud about her kitchen, whichhas been painted in factory Budućnost in Maribor byphysically disabled employees. Sredinom pedesetih godina prošlog stoljeća, mladiVerner Panton krenuo je svojim Volkswagenom, ukoji je smjestio mali mobilni studio, na put po Europi.Na tom putovanju se družio s kolegama dizajnerima,umjetnicima, promatrao, bilježio, upijao novaiskustva i spoznaje. Ekscentrični dizajner vratio se u rodnuDansku 1958. godine s brdom nekonvencionalnih ideja.Jedna od njih prerasla je u kultnu sjedalicu Cone/Kornet,koja je uskoro dobila svoju inačicu u obliku srca. Tanova forma, u povijesti dizajna poznata kao Heart ConeChair, aktualna je i danas i prilično prepoznatljiva. Naime,njezin naslon čine dva krila nalik na uši Mickeyja Mousea,a proizvodi je poznata tvrtka Vitra. Stolice Cone iHeart Cone, njihove hrabre, vrišteće boje i dramatičnioblik, najavile su pop art i pridonijele općem trendu izazivanja,propitivanja etabliranih, konvencionalnih oblikadruštvene interakcije.Prva stolica Cone, presvučena crvenom tkaninom, dizajniranaje za restoran Komi-gen i u početku se izrađivalau malim serijama. Kostur joj je činio metal savijen u oblikkorneta koji se rotirao na svojoj bazi sastavljenoj od dvadijela sjedinjena u oblik križa. Ovom je stolicom Pantonokrenuo konvenciju naglavce stvarajući inovativni, futurističkiefekt. Priča kaže da, kada je prva crvena stolicaCone bila izložena u izlogu jedne newyorške trgovine,policija ju je morala uskoro ukloniti jer su njezina prisutnosti neobičan izgled izazvali prometni kaos. Kasnih pedesetihVerner Panton je probio granice dizajna namještajai postao nositelj avangardnog stila koji će osvojiti idućedesetljeće. Uspio je prodrmati, ako ne i razbiti, unaprijedstvorene ideje o konstrukciji namještaja i predodžbu ookruženju modernog čovjeka uopće.Eksperimentiranje s plastikomVerner Panton je otac fluidnoga, futurističkog dizajnerskogstila šezdesetih, koji je donio pop estetiku u dizajnnamještaja i interijera. Njegova glavna preokupacijabilo je eksperimentiranje s plastikom i drugim novim,umjetnim materijalima, kako bi stvorio namještaj živihboja u geometrijskim formama pop arta.Pantonova životna priča počinje u malom danskomselu, gdje je rođen. Iako, govori se, nikada nije pokazivaoneke osobite umjetničke sklonosti, odlazi u velikigrad na školovanje, a nekako u to vrijeme zatječe ga iDrugi svjetski rat te se priključuje pokretu otpora. Nakonrata odlazi na studij arhitekture na Kraljevsku akademijuumjetnosti u Kopenhagenu. Uskoro nakon formalne naobrazbe,prihvaća posao kod Arnea Jacobsena, velikanadanske arhitekture. Iako je poslije tvrdio da je odnjega najviše naučio, na prvi pogled se čini da je malodotičnih točaka između nježne elegancije Jacobsenovadizajna i “pop dizajna” Vernera Pantona. Međutim,upravo je Jacobsenovo opsesivno istraživanje mogućnostinovih materijala i upotrebe novih tehnologija inspiriraloPantona.Nakon dvije godine provedene kod Jacobsena (a priča109

Već je tada imao vlastiti dizajnerskistudio, otvoren 1955. godine, koji na tržište izbacujedva tipa stolica, Bachelor i Tivoli, međutim tek s ConeChair 1958./1959., Panton je prepoznat kao dizajner istinski“drukčijeg” stila. Sljedećih godina, dizajnerske serijeVernera Pantona bile su inspirirane njegovom filozofijomda “skup namještaja treba biti u interakciji, međusobnose odnositi kao neka vrsta ‘krajobraza’, koji želi puno višeod toga da bude tek funkcionalan”. Kasnih šezdesetihi početkom sedamdesetih Panton razvija koncept “totalnogokoliša (total environment)”, koji je označavaodizajniranje čitavog unutarnjeg prostora, od podova izidova do stropa. Radikalni psihodelični interijeri postalisu prostorni sklopovi za njegov zaobljeni namještaj, zidneobloge, tekstil i osvjetljenje. Jedan od prvih takvih eksperimenataPanton je poduzeo u hotelu “Astoria”, u Trondheimu,gdje je sve površine prostorije prekrio uzorkominspiriranim op artom, u varijaciji iste boje.Boja i ekperiment, inovacija i (svakako) provokacija kojaide s njom ruku pod ruku, odredili su Pantona kao diza-110jnera, ali i arhitekta. Poznati su njegovi prijedlozi za Kartonskui Plastičnu kuću (1960.). Tvorac je i prve stolicenapravljene jedino od plastike.Verner Panton se smatra jednim od najutjecajnijih danskihdizajnera namještaja i interijera. Tijekom svoje karijereizrađivao je futuristički namještaj u najrazličitijim materijalima,ali je plastika nekako ostala njegova najčešćasirovina. Njegov je stil bio “very sixties”, ali je ponovnozadobio popularnost krajem prošlog stoljeća.Tako je početkom devedesetih Panton radio na izmijenjenojnovoj ediciji svoje stolice Cone. Glavne su promjenebile u izboru materijala i obliku baze na kojoj jestajala. Tijelo stolice izrađeno je od akrilik stakla ili kože.Prvotna baza u obliku križa zamijenjena je okruglom metalnompločom ili nožicom napravljenom pomoću petsvinutih čeličnih cijevi. Chairs Cone and HeartCone, with their courageous, screaming colours and dramaticshapes, have introduced pop-art and contributedto the general trend of challenging and questioning establishedand conventional forms of social interaction.The very first Cone Chair, covered in red fabric, was designedfor restaurant Komi-Gen and was produced in verylimited edition. Its structure consisted of a metal pieceshaped like a cone, which rotated on two pieces thatcreated a cross-like base. Panton used this chair to turnconventional wisdom completely upside down by creatingan innovative, futuristic effect. There is a story aboutthe time the very first red Cone Chair was displayed inthe window of a New York store, and the police actuallyhad to remove it because its presence and unusualappearance caused chaos in the traffic. In the late1950s, Verner Panton broke through all the barriers in fur-112niture design on his way to become the most influentialrepresentative of the new avant-garde style that wouldrule the following decade. He managed to shake up, ifnot completely demolish, the preconceived ideas aboutfurniture construction and a modern man’s surroundingambience.Experimenting with PlasticVerner Panton is the founding father of the fluid and futuristicdesigner style that ruled the 1960s and brought popaesthetics into the processes of designing furniture andinteriors. His main preoccupation was experimenting withplastic and other new, artificial materials with the purposeof creating bright-coloured furniture with geometric popartforms. Panton’s life story begins in a small Danish villagewhere he was born. Although the legend says that henever showed significant artistic tendencies, he moves toa big city for educational purposes, but he interrupts thatto join the resistance movement during World War II. Although heeventually claimed that he learned the most from Arne,there doesn’t appear to be much in common betweenJacobsen’s soft elegance and Verner Panton’s “pop design”.However, it was Jacobsen’s obsessive research ofcoming up with ways to use new materials and technologiesthat inspired Panton.After two years with Jacobsen (and it was always rumouredthat he was one of the worst employees in that architectonicoffice because he was already working on hisown projects), he embarked on that famous journey in hismobile atelier as a freelance designer. He had previouslyopened his own designer studio in 1955, which producedchairs Bachelor and Tivoli, but it wasn’t until Cone Chair in1958/1959 that Panton truly earned the reputation of beinga designer with a very “different” style. Over the nextseveral years, Verner Panton’s designer series were inspiredwith his philosophy that “furniture elements shouldinteract between each other in order to create a “landscape-type”environment that wants to be much morethan merely functional”. In the late sixties and early seventies,Panton developed the “total environment” concept,which stood for designing the entire interior space,from floors and walls to the ceiling. Radical psychedelicinteriors were becoming spatial complexes for his roundedfurniture, wallpapers, textile and lighting. One of thefirst experiments of such manner occurred when Pantoncovered all surfaces of a room in hotel “Astoria” in Trondheimwith a sample that was inspired by op-art, andwas featuring different variations of the same colour.Colour and experiment, innovation and (certainly) theever-present provocation have defined Panton as a designer,but also as an architect. His projects for CardboardHouse and Plastic House in 1960 are still remembered. Heis also the creator of the very first chair that was completelymade of plastic.Verner Panton is considered one of the most influentialDanish designers of furniture and interiors. During the courseof his career, he created futuristic furniture from allkinds of materials, but plastic still remained his favouritematerial of choice. His style can be described as “verysixties”, but he also regained his popularity near the endof the last century. During the early nineties, Panton startedworking on the brand-new edition of his Cone Chair.The main changes were evident in the choice of materialand the shape of the chair’s base. The chair’s body wasmade of acrylic glass or leather, while the original cross-likebase got replaced by a round metal board or alittle leg made of five bended metal pipes. This changeof material resulted in a significant change in the chair’slook, as the body and the cone shape looked quite different.For example, two back-support wings on the HeartCone Chair were not as outspread as before. This chaircan be found in white, black, yellow, purple and greencolours.As far as Croatian stores go, the Heart Cone Chair canbe purchased at AAG Design Centre and TEHNO KLARAin Samobor for 13.000 kunas.113
