MASTER OF ARTS IN MINISTRYThe registrar publishes a list <strong>of</strong> courses th<strong>at</strong> are suitable for substitution <strong>of</strong> corerequirements each year.Clinical Pastoral Educ<strong>at</strong>ion (CPE)Both M.A.T.S. and M.A.M. candid<strong>at</strong>es may receive one elective credit for CPE.M.A.M. students using CPE to fulfill the field studies requirement may gainelective credit for a unit <strong>of</strong> CPE th<strong>at</strong> is completed after the basic field studiesrequirement is met.Advanced Standing with CreditIntern<strong>at</strong>ional students who enroll <strong>at</strong> LSTC for a full academic year may earn theM.A.T.S. degree provided th<strong>at</strong> they are assigned sufficient advanced standing onthe basis <strong>of</strong> previous masters level theological study. Students must complete <strong>at</strong> leasteight courses <strong>at</strong> LSTC, including the summ<strong>at</strong>ive evalu<strong>at</strong>ion, in order to qualifyfor the M.A.T.S. degree. All students eligible for advanced standing may contactthe director <strong>of</strong> M.A. programs, who reviews the relevant academic records anddetermines wh<strong>at</strong> advanced standing may be granted.Dual Degree ProgramIn consult<strong>at</strong>ion with the University <strong>of</strong> <strong>Chicago</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> Social ServiceAdministr<strong>at</strong>ion, LSTC <strong>of</strong>fers a coordin<strong>at</strong>ed program <strong>of</strong> studies. Students mayearn the M.A.T.S. or M.A.M. degree from LSTC and the A.M. degree from theUniversity <strong>of</strong> <strong>Chicago</strong> (the equivalent to a master <strong>of</strong> social work degree).
