Decisions concerning the transfer <strong>of</strong> credits into the Th.M. program aregenerally made after the first semester <strong>of</strong> studies <strong>at</strong> LSTC, and the quality <strong>of</strong> thestudent’s work is an important factor in this consider<strong>at</strong>ion.CourseworkIn each field, the curriculum for the master’s degree consists <strong>of</strong> six courses in thechosen field and in rel<strong>at</strong>ed areas determined in consult<strong>at</strong>ion with the faculty advisor.The normal load for a full-time student is three courses per semester. Th.M. studentsmay consider pursuing the degree on a part-time basis, one course per semesterfor three years for example, or in a combin<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> part-time and full-time study.Intern<strong>at</strong>ional students with F-l or J-l st<strong>at</strong>us must pursue a full-time course <strong>of</strong> studybecause <strong>of</strong> U.S. government regul<strong>at</strong>ions. For some first-year intern<strong>at</strong>ional students,two courses and intensive English instruction per semester may be considered fulltimestudy.Language RequirementIn all fields students must show competence <strong>at</strong> a scholarly level in the Englishlanguage, which is the primary language used in the program <strong>of</strong> studies.
