Curriculum Issues• Increase Māori-centred curriculum materials• Use local contexts and knowledge and extend to theglobal phenomena to challenge, compare, contrast• Bear in mind that learning styles, while promising in someinstances, can be misleading in others (Bennet, 1995)• Danger in over-generalising, which leads to stereotyping• Danger of equating cultural difference with deficits• Also, membership in a certain group does not predictbehaviour, it only makes certain types of behaviour moreprobable• While there may be distinctive learning styles amongcultures, great variations exists among individuals withingroups
