Some ideas for changing transportation systems include:· Car use eliminated through walkways, bicycle paths, locally availablenecessities.· Own cars that get better than 60 mpg or are non-polluting. The minimummileage will be incre ased each year based on the best available technology.Older cars must meet these minimums within 5 years or be recycled. At leasta 90% reduction in pre-2000 pollution levels must be achieved.· Local high speed network facilities provide ideal conditions for working fromhome or shared office facilities in your local community .· For some purposes electric vehicles may provide convenient and efficientlocal neighborhood travel if bicycle or walking are not practical.· Walk to the local corner store. If local food stores and cafes dont exist withinwalking distance work with neighbors to create them so that car and publictransit travel is not required for these trips.115
