Legacy Commands and FunctionsNote:Caché 5.0 is supported on Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows ME throughmaintenance version 5.0.3. InterSystems has made no commitment to support theseWindows platforms beyond Caché 5.0.3. For example, in NT3.51 themajor version is 3.Minor Version identifies the minorversion number of the operatingsystem. For example, in NT3.51 theminor version is 51.Build Number identifies the buildnumber of the operating system.This can be one of the following values:1 = Win32 on Windows 95, Windows98, or Windows ME. For 95 the MinorVersion is zero, for 98 the Minor Versionis greater than zero.2 = Win32 on Windows NT, Windows2000, Windows XP, or WindowsServer 2003.This can be one of the followingvalues: 0=Intel, 1=MIPS, 2=Alpha,3=PPC, 255=Unknown.To return the Windows operating system type for your system, use the $ZUTIL(100) function.Note that this function returns different numeric codes for operating system types.To return the Caché version number and the operating system and processor supported, usethe $ZVERSION special variable.784 Caché ObjectScript Reference
ExamplesThe following is the hexadecimal string returned by $ZUTIL(67,14) for a Windows 2000system using an Intel processor:0005 0000 0893 0000 0002 0000The major version is 0005. The minor version is 0000. The build number is 0893. This correspondsto the Windows 2000 version number 5.00.2195. The next field is 0002 which, correspondsto the Windows 2000 operating system type. This is followed by 0000, indicating anIntel processor.The following is the hexadecimal string for a Windows 98 system using an Intel processor:0004 000A 08AE 040A 0001 0000The major version is 0004. The minor version is 000A. The build number is 08AE. Thiscorresponds to the Windows 98 version number 4.10.2222. Note that for Windows 95/98systems only, the second part of the build number field duplicates the major and minor versionnumber (here 040A). The next field is 0001 which, corresponds to the Windows 98 operatingsystem type. This is followed by 0000, indicating an Intel processor.ParameterspidA process ID number. The process ID of the current process is returned by the $JOB specialvariable. The System Management Portal provides a Processes option, which list the pids ofall running processes.
