Lew’srole in The Graduates Saturday choirconcert motivated his trip.Paul’s friend Doug Hobby ’61 wasat his Theta Xi fraternity dinner indowntown Easton. Doug told Paul ofthe return of Bob Haigh, who traveledfrom Colorado, and Dave Saalfrank.On Friday night, Paul met withKonrad Kundig, director of TheGraduates. In response to Paul’s successwith karaoke, Konrad invited him tojoin in a group at the reunion concertthe next day. However, illness precludedPaul’s musical debut at Lafayette, andhe flew back to Florida.Bernie Guenther, a neighbor ofPaul’s in The Villages, Fla., visited Paulin the hospital during his recovery fromback surgery. Bernie had just returnedfrom a western vacation in Idaho,Montana, and Washington. TheGuenthers were excited about theirdaughter Natalie Schaefer, who qualifiedfor the Ironman Triathlon for thesecond time in three years.
