Husband MichaelTuller planned to start Sept. 1 as anindustrial and organizationalpsychologist with PepsiCo in Purchase,N.Y. They planned to move to Fairfield,Conn., in August.After spending more than five yearsas an admissions counselor and pursuinga master’s in higher educationadministration at Marywood University,Maria Caggiano accepted a position atPace University and moved to NewYork. She is senior admissions counselorfor the New York City campus and willbe recruiting in Massachusetts,Pennsylvania, and Staten Island, N.Y.In July, Erica Saccente finished hergraduate program in advanced practicenursing at Columbia University. Shereceived the Mary Simmons Award for“demonstrating compassion and devotionto the mental health needs of patients.”Erica will continue working at New YorkState Psychiatric Institute, where she is anR.N. in the inpatient psychiatric unit.After taking a five-week trip to Italy inSeptember, she will also start working atHELP/PSI in the Bronx as a psychiatricnurse practitioner. She will treat patientswith HIV, substance abuse issues, andmental illness.After living in Seattle for six years,Farhan Ahmed and wife Andrea Dietzplanned to move to Chicago inSeptember. His dissertation was entitled“Deformation Mechanisms in MagnesiumAlloys at Elevated Temperature.” In thefall, he began as a visiting assistantprofessor in the mechanical engineeringdepartment at Bucknell University.For the past year and a half, MattVerbyla worked for the Connecticutbasedenvironmental engineering andhydrogeology consulting firm HRPAssociates with fellow <strong>Lafayette</strong> alumniDiane Tran ’11 and CEO WalterGancarz ’74. He is starting a master’sin environmental engineering atUniversity of South Florida, where histhesis will cover pathogen removal inwastewater treatment systems and thereuse of effluents for irrigation. Mattreturned from a month-long NationalScience Foundation-funded research tripin Bolivia, where his team studied theperformance of three wastewatertreatment systems constructed withfunds from the United States Agency forInternational Development.
