Fran joinedhim Saturday night.Jim Gordon has a house in France.Bob Grim, the legal dean ofKutztown, and wife Jane seem toget younger every year.Rod Heckman and Cathy, hiscollege sweetheart, launched a newbusiness, www.3000bcHOME.com.They reside in Chester Springs, Pa.Frank Hutchinson enjoys golf andhis twin grandsons. Still swimming, butmore recreational than competitive.Curt Martin and wife Sally returnedfrom their Florida house to their homein Bernardsville, N.J.Don Mills and wife Lindey attendedthe class dinner Saturday evening.Thanks to John Galson for convincingDon to come.Paul O’Hea seems to be morevisible at the reunions than he was whenhe was in school. He attended with hiswife, Sharon. Their daughters are ErinO’Hea Boudreaux ’96 and ChristineO’Hea Pitluk ’92.Brad Pierce does a great job as classpresident—apparently class president forlife, since the class reelected him again,First Lady Renee by his side.Jim Quin and Pam were in townfrom Colorado. They have been veryactive in the alumni association eversince graduation and host a getacquaintedevent every year at theirhome for families of new Colorado’Pards.Dave Robins and wife Carol arededicated West Siders in New York City.“Rahboe” remains laconic, ironic, andfunny.Bob Rothman mystified dinnerspeaker (Dru Germanoski, Ervin R.VanArtsdalen Professor of Geology anddepartment head) with a report ofseismic tremors in Brooklyn, N.Y.Len Sarver was elected to MountVernon (N.Y.) School Board, and hopesto make big changes.Bill Slivinski had to cancel at thelast minute. Claude Beller says Bill has10 grandchildren. Is that a class record?Bert Stromberg and wife Jo Anneflew in from University of Minnesota,where Bert continues to serve as thechair of the biology department.Jeff Weigel has a house in Fijiand a commitment to the welfareof the island people.Bob Zink works at Avaya, andhe and Linda are remodeling a newhome in Hershey’s Mill, Pa.1967 Henry D. RyderThe 45th reunion is fast approaching,June 1–3, 2012.Following the earthquake in Japan,Kei-Ichi Ohara in Tokyo wrote: “I amOK, with only slight damage at myhouse in Tokyo. All my family members(wife Masumi and daughter Sayaka) arefine. Luckily, my family and friends havebeen surviving through the aftershocks,although the Fukushima nuclear powerplant troubles remain unsettled.”Because Kei’s employer, Japan CareerDevelopment Corp., finds him indispensable,he is not thinking of retiring yet.He extends an offer to classmates toprovide assistance or information withregard to Japan or Tokyo.After 35 years with J.P. Morgan,Ed Scherling retired in June 2009 as anexecutive director with responsibility formanaging the firm’s western hemispherecredit function within the global custodyline of business. He and his wife, Linda,who retired the same day, reside inJackson, N.J. The Scherlings’ daughter,Lori, was married in October 2010and resides in Philadelphia with herhusband, Andrew, who by coincidenceis a J.P. Morgan executive director andsenior auditor.Richard Rose retired from LoudounCounty Schools in 2001 and fromMarymount University in 2006. Afterthe death of his wife, Susan, in 2008,he moved to Oklahoma to help hisparents. He remarried in 2010, andhe and Kathleen returned to Virginiain 2011. He continues to write andproduce operas and recently completeda book, Frameshifts, available fromAmazon.John Valvanis’ daughter, Kristin’03, was married Oct. 2, 2010, toEric Frederickson.
