181Chairman’s Review – Business Operations ReviewWealth ManagementNew Fund Launches and ServicesIn 2012, Public Mutual launched three new unit trust fundsnamely Public Strategic SmallCap Fund (equity fund), PBDynamic Allocation Fund (mixed asset fund) and PublicEnterprises Bond Fund (bond fund). Public StrategicSmallCap Fund and Public Enterprises Bond Fund werelaunched on 20 March 2012 whilst PB Dynamic AllocationFund was launched on 19 June 2012.On 5 April 2012, Public Mutual was selected as one of theeight inaugural Private Retirement Scheme (“PRS”) Providersto market and distribute PRS funds by Securities CommissionMalaysia. PRS seeks to enhance choices available for allMalaysians to supplement their retirement savings under awell-structured and regulated environment. It complementsthe mandatory contributions made to Employees ProvidentFund and is expected to be well-received by the generalinvesting public as one of its benefits is the tax relief ofRM3,000 per year enjoyed by all PRS contributors.Public Mutual had launched six PRS funds comprising threeconventional series funds namely Public Mutual PRS GrowthFund, Public Mutual PRS Moderate Fund and Public MutualPRS Conservative Fund, and three Shariah-based seriesfunds namely Public Mutual PRS Islamic Growth Fund, PublicMutual PRS Islamic Moderate Fund and Public Mutual PRSIslamic Conservative Fund on 26 November 2012.AwardsPublic Mutual reinforced its No. 1 position in the private unittrust industry with 194 major awards received to date. Withthe receipt of a total of 16 awards in 2012, Public Mutualremains Malaysia’s most awarded unit trust fund manager.For the ninth consecutive year, Public Mutual emerged asthe biggest winner by sweeping eight awards at The Edge-Lipper Malaysia Fund Awards 2012. In addition, PublicMutual won two Best of the Best Awards at the Asia AssetManagement Awards 2011. The two awards are Best RetailHouse – Malaysia and Best House for Offshore Funds –Malaysia. Public Mutual also won The Asset Triple A IslamicFinance Awards 2012 for the Best Islamic Retail AssetManagement House in Malaysia.Public Ittikal Fund was named the Best Asian Equity Fund inthe 10-year category at Failaka Islamic Fund Awards 2011.Furthermore, Public Mutual won two awards out of sevenawards at the 2012 Morningstar Malaysia Fund Awards. Thetwo awards are the Best Islamic Malaysia Equity Fundcategory for Public Islamic Dividend Fund and Best IslamicMYR Bond Fund category for PB Islamic Bond Fund.Following the new fund launches during the year, PublicMutual has a total of 100 funds which comprise 94 unit trustfunds and six PRS funds under its management as at theend of 2012.
