O<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r types of accommodati<strong>on</strong> facilities,irrespective of <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir denotati<strong>on</strong> and regi<strong>on</strong>al interpretati<strong>on</strong> (e.g., holidaycentres, holiday homes, youth hostels, holiday camps, camping andca<str<strong>on</strong>g>ra</str<strong>on</strong>g>vanning sites, time-share, etc.), are excluded from <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> survey.Definiti<strong>on</strong>: For <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> purpose of <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> survey, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> term “classificati<strong>on</strong> of accommodati<strong>on</strong>establishments” denotes a system, duly published, in whichaccommodati<strong>on</strong> establishments of <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> same type (e.g., <strong>hotel</strong>s, motels, inns,etc.) have been c<strong>on</strong>venti<strong>on</strong>ally broken down into classes, categories org<str<strong>on</strong>g>ra</str<strong>on</strong>g>des according to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir comm<strong>on</strong> physical and service cha<str<strong>on</strong>g>ra</str<strong>on</strong>g>cteristics andestablished at government, industry or o<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r private levels.Scopeof replies:In view of <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir nati<strong>on</strong>al situati<strong>on</strong> and <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> availability of informati<strong>on</strong>, NTAresp<strong>on</strong>dents may provide informati<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> government classificati<strong>on</strong> (coveredby Part A of <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> survey) or n<strong>on</strong>-governmental classificati<strong>on</strong> (Part B), or bothsystems (should such systems co-exist or are complementary), as well as<strong>on</strong> announced classificati<strong>on</strong> (Part C).Documents: The resp<strong>on</strong>dents’ efforts to provide simple and unequivocal answers,whe<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r affirmative (yes, underline), n<strong>on</strong>-affirmative (no) or factual (specify)will be appreciated. As a principle, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>y are not requested to attachadditi<strong>on</strong>al supporting documents, unless <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> resp<strong>on</strong>dents feel that suchexisting documents (if possible, in English, French, Russian or Spanish)need to be sent to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> WTO Secretariat to fur<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r clarify <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir replies.With respect to nati<strong>on</strong>al legislati<strong>on</strong> and regulati<strong>on</strong>s governingaccommodati<strong>on</strong> classificati<strong>on</strong>, which are normally requested and receivedby <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> WTO Documentati<strong>on</strong> Centre <strong>on</strong> a regular basis, resp<strong>on</strong>dents arekindly requested to check <strong>on</strong> this situati<strong>on</strong> and, when appropriate, use <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>opportunity of <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> survey to attach to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir completed questi<strong>on</strong>naires <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>latest relevant regulatory instruments and/or indicate <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir country website32 WTO and IH&RA have agreed to undertake <str<strong>on</strong>g>joint</str<strong>on</strong>g>ly a <str<strong>on</strong>g>study</str<strong>on</strong>g> <strong>on</strong> <strong>hotel</strong> classificati<strong>on</strong> to include a status report <strong>on</strong>existing <strong>hotel</strong> classificati<strong>on</strong> schemes and a compa<str<strong>on</strong>g>ra</str<strong>on</strong>g>tive analysis and interpretati<strong>on</strong> of such schemes and <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>irfuncti<strong>on</strong>s.33 Such establishments provide services entered as number 63110.0 in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Cent<str<strong>on</strong>g>ra</str<strong>on</strong>g>l Product Classificati<strong>on</strong>(CPC) and coincide with “tourism cha<str<strong>on</strong>g>ra</str<strong>on</strong>g>cteristic activities” in <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Tourism Satellite Account: RecommendedMethodological F<str<strong>on</strong>g>ra</str<strong>on</strong>g>mework.34 These terms are subject to debate and regi<strong>on</strong>al interpretati<strong>on</strong>.
